Seiko is nowhere on this pyramid. Therefore this pyramid is invalid.

Invicta CRUISE?!?!?!
I can't even begin to imagine the amount of douchebaggary and just general bullshit present on that boat.
And of course its on a Carnival.

(Not hating on all Invicta wearers but mostly all Invicta wearers of central to south Florida.)

The Fyre Festival for "watch lovers".

When I bought my speedy I did ask here if people thought it would hold its value with time. Of course no one can give an exact answer on that as I know crystal balls have high rates of error but it was something I wanted to consider when I purchased it. Really the only reason I was concerned about it is if I want to use it for trade in the future for something better. I would think omega is a little above entry level. Can鈥檛 make heads or tails of the chart.

A new speedmaster is what now? 6k?

Not exactly entry level from a cost perspective. Not like say a sub-$1200 hamilton chronograph.

Who are we kidding? The general public has never heard of any of the brands on these pyramids and lists excepting for Rolex.

Interesting that blancpain rates higher than omega despite blancpain basically having no watches I like 馃槈
How dare you! 馃槈 I'm sure all of us can find at least one brand on that list with nothing in their current inventory they like. For me, it would be Rolex. But as said many times, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks or ranks, it only matters whet you think about the watches you buy. And I love my Blancpain, so there! 馃槣

Spot on - that list is not much better than the first one posted, but in the end, buy what you like and leave the "pyramids" and rankings to the noobs.

But certain people buy their watches based on rankings, why would any aspiring wannabe go and buy a Cartier watch when it is only 15th in the league table, after all that makes it a rubbish watch, not buying that crap.

Wannabe's want the top watches so that they can show that they are not wannabe's but somebody's, this is why a league table is so important for a wannabe, it doesn't matter if the table is about desirability, exclusivity, price, rarity, sales, value retention or anything else as long as their watch is at or near the top then they can move up the slippery slope of acceptability.

This is why Rolex is so popular, its the first brand from the top that the wannabe can pronounce properly without looking a prat.

I was watching a show on Hulu last night and one of the commercials was an Ebay commercial that briefly featured a picture of a Speedmaster.
Just tried to find the commercial but no luck...

what... no Timex?

I'd have one of those over a Bremont any day.

At least their history is real.

Swatch and LVMH both have their brands 'ranked' as far as affordability and target audiences. If you really want to create a ranking, that seems to be a pretty good place to start.

I think the ranking should be based on (a) whether the subject brand has been in outer space and (b) how good looking the brand鈥檚 ambassadors are. Omega has been to the moon and they have Kidman, Crawford, Craig, Clooney, Wie, Redmayne, etc. Therefore, Omega should clearly be ranked first. 馃榿

Or Swatches. There are so many Swatches you've got to be able to find one you like.
