Invicta CRUISE?!?!?!
I can't even begin to imagine the amount of douchebaggary and just general bullshit present on that boat.
And of course its on a Carnival.

(Not hating on all Invicta wearers but mostly all Invicta wearers of central to south Florida.)

You clicked the link didn’t you...... 😉 no unseeing it now

Semi-serious question. How is invictus still in business? Who even buys their cr@p? Worse then a Michael Koors watch.

Oh I clicked the link alright haha.
Confirmed my initial thoughts.
I will say I am surprised that I did not see more Ed Hardy shirts and bedazzled jeans.

Two levels down in the catacombs of the pyramid.

I would have thought that a worthwhile factor to consider is how well supporter older models are. Being able to access replacement parts for older watches strikes me as a good indicator of quality. I have no idea how good each of the featured manufacturers are on that criterion or where Omega sits within them, but it would certainly be a factor that I would take into consideration regarding quality.

People who don't know watches. Invicta advertises a LOT- more than, say, a JLC. And they charge a lot too, giving the false sense of luxury

That video was incredibly entertaining, but I'm left wondering how @STANDY knew about the cruise. 😗

What, you don’t get invites and free watches and stuff from heaps of brands yet !

😁

This thread

You mean you missed this years Invicta cruise?! Shame on you - you call yourself a watch collector...

Seiko produce such a range of watches at all price points, so should be in multiple positions on the pyramid.

Agreed.
However they ought to be regarded as three separate brands with each occupying a different tier.

If I were making such a pyramid (and I'm not going to) it would be based on things like quality, innovation, etc. and not ability to hold value after being sold.

To me, "holding value" is not even a criteria I pay attention to...

My answer to where Omega fits is the same as Rolex - both are mid-tier brands at best.

Perhaps.
But where do they reside within their respective categories?
Is Omega entry level with Rolex at the top and about to break that glass ceiling, or visa versa?

Re: Invicta, good marketing, market them so large and heavy that you have to buy two, one for each wrist just for balance. Just plain tacky.

I think this applies more to the brand equity part of the equation.
After all, they do actually charge an arm and a leg for the privelige which may be all well and good for a one off piece or something that's more or less regarded as historically significant.
But for their bread and butter references that are primarily intended to be a watch for life that simply tells the time with another basic complication or two. It surely must be an overkill proposition.

Personally, I don’t really care that much to warrant putting that much thought into it. Does it really matter? Just buy what you like.

When I bought my speedy I did ask here if people thought it would hold its value with time. Of course no one can give an exact answer on that as I know crystal balls have high rates of error but it was something I wanted to consider when I purchased it. Really the only reason I was concerned about it is if I want to use it for trade in the future for something better. I would think omega is a little above entry level. Can’t make heads or tails of the chart.

Precisely.
I'm just having a little fun with it all.
