I recall a pal of mine has a big size funky looking Longines chronograph on it's original bracelet and as memory serves me this is a picture of a similar watch I found from the net.

I couldn't find many similar watches on a google search so I could get a feel for value. I remember the watch and remember I lusted for it the last time I seen it sitting in his drawer (18 years ago) and now that he is in the mood to get rid of stuff I want to make him a reasonable offer on it. I believe this is the model and not the model with the extra crown at 10:00 for a rotating inner bezel.

Any tips on value would be appreciated as he is an old friend and I don't want him to think I lowballed him. The watch has not been in use since I seen it last and surely is in the same pristine condition (aside from a well needed service which I am prepared to have done).

This one sold for $2890 USD a couple of weeks ago and without the bracelet: https://www.ebay.com/itm/334289371492?epid=13051558614&hash=item4dd5330164:g:2MEAAOSwQP5h3yU2&nma=true&si=%2BQP%2F7deIqwSiAlQ7xmFxpeShBpQ%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

This one has some dial wear but also has the bracelet. Maybe wait a week and see what it goes for. https://www.ebay.com/itm/334314721203?hash=item4dd6b5cfb3:g:P58AAOSwFeRfkF0I

Edit: The second ref. 8226 (with bracelet) received no bids at $2995 USD.

The valj. 72 service will cost you around $ 500 plus. I'd offer him max. $2500 unserviced . Dial is good. Used to have that model with the red Vernier Hand for 1/10 seconds measurement..... Nice watches. Good luck. Achim

That is a pretty cool looking watch. The red km/h band on the bezel makes it particularly useful up here in the great white north.
