Increase about omega service

I'm not surprised they would increase the price - prices for luxury goods/services tend to increase and given the fears of a recession worldwide, being able to make money off of existing Omega owners will make up for some of the customers they lose.

But, what does surprise me is that anyone is sending their watch to Omega since watch brands replace/update watch parts even if something isn't wrong. I had a service done to my vintage Speedmaster a few months ago and it was roughly the same cost of what's mentioned here and it was done in a few weeks. I'm not sure why everyone wouldn't go that route given how valued originality is in the collecting community.

It depends on what watch you own. I had an SMP 2220.80 serviced by Omega last year because I didn't care about "originality." The watch was made in 2011-2012 and I purchased it used on eBay last year in decent, but obviously worn condition. I wanted the watch restored to like new condition including new hands, crowns, and bezel/bezel insert. And Omega did that nicely. If I were to wear the watch for 10 years, and every ding and scratch was put on the watch by me, I'd have a different attitude. In that case I'd only want the movement cleaned and gaskets replaced (to preserve water resistance). I likely would choose an independent under those circumstances.

I paid 300 in 2011 for a PO and 450 in 2022 UK, so there must've been an increase in the interim, and for my 450 it's losing 5 minutes after a full wind!. Joy.... 🤔

Two year warranty on service

Yeh, got to go through all that again, Why don't they check these things more carefully. Literally the worst service I've had from them. Several things weren't right.

That's unfortunate.

Thankfully my SMP service went without a problem.

Got it, that actually makes a lot of sense. I guess buying a run down, newer Speedmaster and then having it serviced would be a pretty great an convenient way to end up with a nice watch without paying an arm and a leg.

Luck of the draw mate, Some I'm sure are exemplary, and some, not so much...Always one thing or another with me, came back scratched last time, and movement was spot on, this time, clean as a whistle, but movement not right.

The Omega boutique near me said the price was only going to increase the price by $50 across the board.

I was taught to pick up a short piece of hair, then flip it over. Harder than it looks.

Does wiping pubes off the rim of the toilet bowl count towards this... I feel like it does.

My faith in the service center is not very strong at the moment. I sent my smp in for a complete service in October and got it back in November. It was running +1 second a day for about a week and it started running slower. I had my fill of it on New Year’s Eve when I woke up and check it and for the 2nd day it was running -15 seconds. Just checked the service tracking and it said they are going to do another complete service and they are currently waiting on parts. Expected completion date of 03/07/2023

Dammit... I've been using my wife's eyelash tweezers. No wonder I'm not getting any closer to that career of Watchmaker.

Best to take it to authorised omega independent. Quicker and you can discuss your requirements better.

Hi guys and happy new year.
From this morning on Omega website, the price about complete service is increase by 200€ for all type of Watch.

Did u expect that?

750 € for a single time, start to become a madness 😡
😲
% for their OUTfluencers I suppose ?

I've been waiting for 5 months for my AT to be serviced by Omega. I finally called the AD yesterday to find out what's going on - they checked and got back to me, and supposedly the issue has been parts availability. The expected completion date is the end of the month, "if it passes QC" - which sounds somewhat ominous. 😉 Nearly 6 months to service an Aqua Terra seems a bit crazy - these aren't rare watches, they make thousands of them every year. I'd be more annoyed if I didn't have another watch or two to wear while waiting for it.

Is that an independent AD or an Omega Boutique? And do you know where the watch actually went?

It's an AD - the closest Omega boutique is in NYC. It went to Omega's service center in NJ..

Parts have certainly been an issue...last year I ordered a bezel here n July, and I didn’t get it until December...in all the years I’ve been servicing watches, this is the worst it’s been getting parts from Omega.

In the past I’ve never waited more than 2 weeks for basically any part...

I hear you - I'm not doubting the parts availability. Just seems crazy that a pretty basic Omega watch that is readily available (not rare, limited or scarce) takes 6 months to service - they've certainly got enough parts to keep churning them out.

I thought the "if it passes QC" line was hilarious - I actually laughed when she said it - it doesn't breed confidence in their $600 service.

I suppose that one can read this in different ways...to me it’s just a statement of fact, but I guess if you are cynical it could be a bad thing. At least Omega is maintaining their standards, which is more than I can say for another big brand...
