Earlier being the operative word. I've never known a show to go down hill so much. Seasons 1-10 were perfect, but they just keep on going, so now there's been more terrible seasons than good ones. Ah nostalgia, a haven for the old (I'm 34!).

You think that the early Simpson's seasons were old? I remember when, growing up in Chicago in the early '80s, I first saw Maggie (or something quite close) in a short before a film in an art-house theater. Fantastic! Of course I was already familiar with Groening's work, as he had a weekly cartoon, "Life in Hell", in the (then excellent) Chicago Reader. Here's a good taste:
