I'm going to leave only one seamaster.

Hi, I'm looking to sell one seamaster from the collection I have.

I currently have 2 seamaster. The first is the 2nd generation seamaster black with wave dial.

The second is the first generation planet ocean 2201.50.

What would you leave behind and what would you sell?

I've been thinking about this for a long time.

I think it depends on what you would use the watch for. The SMP is dressier. The PO is more rugged looking. Both have the same movement and are about the same age.

It depends on what other watches you have.

In isolation, I think the PO is the more desirable watch and has a better reputation in the watch enthusiast community. Plus, it's a legitimate Bond watch, worn by Daniel Craig in Quantum of Solace. Although that last issue may not mean anything to you.

There is no other watch. I will only leave one.

I put a lot of value on legibility and the PO wins there.

If you dress up at all I think the SMP is the better choice. The PO is more tool-like.

PO.

Never liked that Seamaster bracelet. Looks like jewelry and not in a good way. Very dated.

Have the same Seamaster in Blue. Always loved the subtle wave dial and the bracelet is extremely comfortable. The hands seem to float over the dial. Don't wear it much as I have a bunch of other watches in my rotation, but it's a little nostalgia since it was my first luxury watch.

That being said, the PO is more of a tool watch, better legibility at all glance, bracelet is great, overall seems more timeless than the SMP in ways. But does has the more casual vibe to it.

Personally, I would keep the PO since it fits with my current lifestyle better.

The question really is which fits better with your current lifestyle? Which do you wear more on a weekly basis? Which one do you think about more when wearing the other one?

If you're really questioning it, wear each for a week straight. Then after the two weeks, you'll have a better answer.

I'd keep the PO over the Seamaster Pro.

The black Seamaster Pro is actually pretty rare since it wasn't a big seller for Omega compared to the blue Bond Seamaster. I think the next generation ceramic black Seamaster Pro looks better than the wave dial black Seamaster Pro.

Hi,
Unfortunately I’m closing this topic because it is not possible to leave only one watch.

Not sure how someone with 5 posts can “close this topic.”

Clearly, English is not the OP’s language, but most of us were able to interpret the request as “keeping one watch.”

They are both great watches. Is there any reason why you can’t keep both? Is there one you wear more often than the other?

The SMP in all its guises is great but the Gen 2 has perhaps the least to commend it. It was the first black dial model but really the only change was the red text and coax escapement of questionable benefit. In contrast the 2201.50 is peak Planet Ocean. No other is as nice IMO. So on that basis, best PO vs worst SMP, all else being equal suggests keep the PO if as you say, there can be only one. Highlander. Great film! Despite what is suggested in Talledega nights. It is not ‘sheeet’

Read back. Best PO vs (debatably) worst SMP. Simple as that, regardless of movement. A subjective opinion obv. I’ve owned both by the way. It’s like Margot Robbie vs Charlize Theron. There is no real loser. I’ve not ‘owned’ both there though. Or indeed either.

Actually I’m being mean. I actually preferred gen 2 to the current fat boy SMP offerings so perhaps I should have said second worst.

Margot Robbie > Charlize Theron. You are in a credibility freefall.
