I wanted the new Pepsi when it came out but changed my mind when I saw Tudor's GMT.
I'm not in any way trying to suggest the Tudor compares with the stellar look / quality finish of the Pepsi but IMHO, unlike all former Al-bezel Rolex GMTs, their current GMTs have a much more elegant and less tool-watch look to them. Tudor's GMT on the other hand is all tool-watch! If I hadn't seen the Tudor, I would have gunned for the Pepsi.
The SS Caliber 321 is (almost) all tool-watch, even with that bracelet and ceramic bezel (doesn't have the over-saturated ceramic colors like the current Rolex GMTs).
I will say some of the ceramic bezel color combinations can excite you when they first come out, and then you begin to get sick of it. I had the green ceramic submariner when it came out long before the craze and you could get it for around 6K. I got sick of it after a year and sold it for 7K. Kicking myself not knowing that stainless steel was the new gold when the prices went up. Aluminum bezels are always nice! Speaking of your Tudor, I’ve got the Pelagos blue and it’s a tool watch, so I agree with you on Tudors. Did you have any of the date wheel issues that people kept talking about on your Tudor GMT?
Yes, unfortunately I did but had it serviced (...twice...) and it performed flawlessly throughout 2021.
Yeah I'm really hoping they finally got it right.
Fingers crossed! However it obviously did not stop me from picking one up if you are thinking about it @Sherrill

Agreed - despite this hiccup, the watch is awesome (and that's before factoring in the price - I hope it will be a long time before we see an 80K Tudor... 😜)
Of the two choices initially offered I’d choose the contemporary Ed White. Generally, I’m not a fan of modern day Rolex watches. Now, that being said, if the choice was between a vintage Ed White and a vintage Rolex 1675… that choice would be more difficult for me but I’m leaning towards the GMT. Now… 2998…an even more difficult choice.
Both awesome watches in their own right. If I had to choose only one between them, I’d go with the Ed White. I know the GMT is arguably more versatile, but I like the special feel of a vintage piece that the 321 provides.
Rolex wait lists, buying grey and paying over msrp, Jubilee bracelet.....The Omega, but aren't there wait lists for those as well? It's always better to walk into an authorized dealer or boutique and by what you want when you want....Can't do that with Rolex.
