Modern GMT's to shouty. 321 all day. However, would love a vintage 1675, think they look great. A financially hypothetical choice at the moment. Will have to be satisfied with the 101 for that vintage look.

Worried about what!?! 😕

I most likely am going to sell it & dont want to nick/scratches. I really dont like the watch but saw it as an opportunity when my AD called a few weeks ago.

An “opportunity”… Ah, I see.

you ask in an OMEGA Forum ...which answer do you expect? ... 3 2 1 !

I'd want the 321. Financially it would make more sense to buy the Rolex, wait 7 months and sell it for some stupid high price then buy the 321 with the extra cash... But in the end I'd want the 321. It's a silly thing really but I can't stand the mag crystal for the date window on Rolex.

It sure is an eyesore… but once you will get older and your eyes will grow tired… you will absolutely love the fact that you can read the date without having to extent your arm!! 😗

Have come to LOVE the “cyclop” on my BLNR… 👍

hahaha, i think that's the other part, my grandfather always had them on his watches... I'm not ready to be old yet =\ I guess most of us never are, regardless of age

I do have the old 5 digit Rolex gmt with all 3 factory bezel inserts and the 3861 Speedy. Just curious as to which of the two models people would choose if it wasn’t an issue with supply.

Major Rolex fanboy here... IMO the best sport watch of all time is the 16710 Pepsi... so if you have that model with the options (you need the jubilee too to have a full set!) then I wouldn't even consider the modern Taco Bell (which is what I call the fugly maroon/purple ceramic variant).

That said, I'm not sure what the big deal is about the Ed White? Dot over 90 doesn't move my needle. 321 is neat but is it actually a better caliber than the later ones? I know I'd rather have a 3185 based Pepsi than a 1575 based one. Sometimes several decades of watchmaking tech are a good thing to have 😀 The Ed White bracelet looks nice, but more fancy than utilitarian to me. I have an 1861 hesalite and that seems to cover all the Speedy bases for me.

I think that for me, as someone who doesn't have a vintage Speedmaster, you get a vintage feel on a new watch + some of the nice modern bells and whistles like the ceramic bezel.

DON - Doesn't totally matter to me other than making it "correct" for the watch they're trying to re-create
Clean dial presentation (I prefer less writing, that's actually another thing that bothers me about some Rolex watches)
Stepped dial
Lume color has a vintage look/feel
Display back - I love looking at that movement
Flat link bracelet
No crown guards

I just love the look of it. But I also get why people would shrug and move on.

Rolex might as well be writing a haiku on some of their watches. The Daytona writing is overkill.

Definitely fair points. I hadn't actually noticed the more svelte case profile until you mentioned it.

And yes, the Dayonta jumps the shark on dial writing/clutter. Still manages to look good on whole, but there are aspects that are kind of a mess. I hate the rightside up "6" on the left subdial even though all other numbers on the bottom half of a circle are upside down... ridiculous. Keep this one in your back pockets next time a Speedy v Daytona internet fight breaks out haha

The Daytona has always been too busy for my liking. The modern ones at least...

Apples and oranges.

But if someone handed me both, I’d go with the GMT Master II.

There’s no reasoning away the price difference of a modern mainline Speedy vs the NEW321, but setting that aside: in the hands, held next to a mainline speedy the nuances of the NEW321 are every bit the “nuances” between a 16710 Pepsi (on jubilee) vs a modern Taco Bell.

And just like a 16710 vs Taco Bell, 99% of people on the street would notice no difference between them, or understand why a person might pay a premium for the former.

I’m a Speedmaster fan boy but I’d choose the GMT.

Vintage Speedmasters just look infinitely better than the modern recreations Omega have attempted.
The same could be levied against the GMT but at least it’s been in continuous production with regular updates rather than wheeled out 60 years after it was discontinued to fit in with current trends.

Quite different watches... But I'll go for the GMT.
I have a vintage Ed white and i think the new one won't be as cool as the old one.
