And it’s “new with defects”.

Can you imagine the price if it didn’t have defects?

Swatch saved the Swiss watch industry.

Heck, I remember going to going to the 1986 World Exposition in Vancouver, Canada and the Swiss pavilion had a giant Swatch watch outside.

I found an old solid white plastic swatch in new condition years ago while cleaning up the storeroom.
It apparently had belonged to my sister, she had bought it on a whim but never worn it, so I put a new battery in it and gave it to her.
I don't think she has even tried it on. I'm sure it needs another battery by now.

Are these watches actually worth anything, seriously?
I remember hearing of these but never actually saw anyone wearing one. they look like they were intended to be worn a few times and tossed in the trash.

Most are mocking the asking price, not so much the watch.

Some are.
The see through jellyfish was an icon.
Others it depends.

I’m sure this one will appeal to those who place more value on watches w/o service replacement parts...

What he said. If it was '29.99' and not '299,999' one of us would probably be posting about an amazing find instead.

Personally I always thought some of the early Swatches were nifty, in a quirky sort of way. Never were my own personal taste though, admittedly, but nothing but respect for the Swatch group.

Isn't it just the European thing where some countries use a comma instead of a decimal point, and has got it confused, probably?

Also, this will only mean anything to UK members, I suspect, but I was chuckling at the "collect 300 Nectar points with this purchase". That's worth about USD 2 to spend at the supermarket 😁

So you think his asking price was really 299.999 Euros? I don't recall prices down to the 1000th of a Euro the last time I was in Europe...

Pretty sure that one will be on the bay for a while. 🤦🥱

BTW, if I had 300k to burn, I'd buy a second home.

If you're loopy enough to make the first mistake, you're loopy enough to make the second - I did wonder, I must say.

Aim high. This brings to mind the woman who had visited a MacDonld’s drive through and had the misfortune of spilling a cup of scalding hot coffee in her lap. She was suing for 2.86 million dollars for third degree burns to her pelvic region (ahem). She had to settle for a mere $640,000! ! You never can tell what will happen.

Good thing to, it was a horrific injury which could have been avoided by McDonalds not serving unreasonably hot coffee.

Spot on. If you dig into the actual details of the case instead of relying on headlines, you realize how serious this was (not a laughing matter) and why McD's had to pay up.

I highly recommend watching the documentary about this case called "Hot Coffee" as it will be an eye opener for those who glibly use this incident as some sign that the world has gone crazy with frivolous lawsuits.

The truth is, the world has gone crazy, but not the way most people who bring this incident up think it has. The way the courts and government in the US have shielded companies from liability from negligence is scandalous.
