...but my funds weren't big enough to buy it 😁

Last weekend there was an Ultraman offered at a German Fleamarket page, after the watch was the last 30 years in a drawer. The seller was overwhelmed with the requests and his initial price idea (5000€ obo) changed very fast 😁
Since the seller was also from Berlin, I offered him help to open the watch, cause he didn't had any tools. It also was a chance for me to have such a rare watch in my hands and compare it with my -69 Speedy.

I know a few guys of you track these watches, so I wanted to share the dates with you:

Ref. 145.012 - 67
SN: 26.077.438
Bracelet: 1039/516 stamped 4/67

The owner got the watch from his dad who was working for the Allies in Berlin. The father got the watch as a gratification for his work. As far as I know the watch is sold now for a good market price. Maybe the new owner is member here too?

The price was right in the ballpark of a good Ultraman regarding to Speedmaster101s pricechart.

I think events might overtake these, William's pricing assumes a certain level of rarity (50 or maybe 100 max) yet they turn up every month. Once there are 200-300 around, I can see some of the shine wearing off. To me, these are a $15-20K USD watch tops. They are after all just a 145.012 with a red hand, quriky but not worth Racing or early straight lug money. The market thinks otherwise. For now.

Then again, when Snoopy 2 makes such silly money, maybe they are rare enough!

Super nice. Do you know how much it sold for.......
would be interesting to know. Plus, did he have any of the paraphernalia that came with it?

As i said, as far as what I know it was around what William sees for one in good condition.

unfortunately nothing else came with the watch. Seller wanted to look for pics of his father wearing the watch, but I guess he lost interest after it was sold.

It’s just an orange hand 😝 (...and dial, and lume, allegedly)

But a nice 145.012 at that 👍

We are not even up to 60 examples yet are we?
This is the first one I have seen crop up in a few months, where are the others?
Cheers, Michael

The folklore (and pricing logic) says 50 max. If 60 have been reported, it is not unreasonable to assume there are 2 or 3 times as many out there whose existence haven't made it to here. I reckon a few hundred is a more realistic total, it does seem that these are much less rare than was once postulated.

I agree. Wasnt there a rule of thumb that 10-20% of all watches survived? So if we know 50 in total, I guess its legit to say there are 250-500 produced. From an economical view of production it would be also senseless to build less.

I hear the folklore 50 was just dealer BS wasn't it?
I think MWO count is up to about 47 ish? I'm certainly not seeing unknown ones come up that often these days.

Completely agree with this... if they’d made any fewer they’d have ended up wasting half the orange paint in the tin 😁
