Hi

I am not an watchmaker and never bought "parts". I always bought full working watches but this time I bought "parts"...
So I find on my local classified site an ad with the title "Omega Kit" and I bought for 200 Euro an "NOS Kit" for an Omega Pie Pan Constellation 167.005. All the parts look new for my eyes and authentic ones.. So I was lucky?
If I was lucky and I bought the right parts can you please advice which caliber do I have to search so I will assemble a full watch.. 😀 New full bracelet is present but I forgot to picture it..

Thank you for your help and here is the "Omega Kit"

All parts look to be Chinese made knock-offs, likely available separately on Alibaba for a fraction of what you paid. But someone took the time and assembled it all into a kit, so they charged extra.

Since it seems your intent here is to make a fake Constellation, I’m going to stop here.

You havnt worried about the OMEGA Letters? The G is bigger then the sorrounding letters for example...

If it looks to good to be true, it probably is.

I would ask for a refund.

The star is different also. But fonts are more or less correct and these parts may fool the novice collector.

Unfortunately, the lucky person here was the scam artist that sold this to you for 200 Euros. Get a refund.

I read about these but had not seen close up photos before. They did not miss the Omega logo on the crystal.

Unfortunately, as others have said, it is a reproduction (aka fake) set of parts.

However, as @gatorcpa noted, the text is irritatingly close to the real thing -only the quality of the printing gives it away.

There are a number of 'tells' for the dial and case but I think we can leave those for now.

Get your money back if you can.

The minute markers jump out like a sore thumb. The inside case back lettering looks like it was done with rub on dye transfer fonts.

Parts watches/kits are full of minefields. The only reason I play with them is that I have had them for 25 or so years. They always seem like a good deal at the time. Then can languish in a drawer for decades. Such watches always cost more than the complete ones.

If I recall correctly there was recently a thread on OF about chinese large scale production of fake Pie Pan Constellation...

Oh by the way, the Ref. 167.005 on the caseback would be for a non-calendar movement. The dial has a calendar window. So even if complete, you would have a fake frankenwatch.

A true crystal will have a raised logo from the molding process, this one is likely etched with a laser. Have a look.

I believe that if the outer caseback was gold (as you showed), then inner side should be marked as 14k or 18k. The picture was searched from Google.

Please see the difference in medallion and “14k” as I mentioned, also print quality.

Even in the steel case ref 167.005 , it should be like this.

Wow!!!
I have been away from vintage Omega collecting for years now but shocking how things have changed. If that dial was presented alone, I would have never realized it was not the real deal… and I like to think I was good at spotting redials in my time.

Well, the texts on the dial are very obvious reprinting. It's always easy to tell - no proper serif fonts!

This is correct:

This is correct:

This, and the date window is placed at the wrong position, should be in the middle of the piepan edge, plus the little marker at 3 should be half the size.
