I was just asked about this 1675

A good friend of my wife's just texted her these pics and asked if I thought it was worth anything. I told her $400-$500 max (just kidding). Looks like an honest 1675 to me with a service dial. Well polished and worn. Or a fake, but I didn't see any red flags myself. It was her father's who is probably 85. Any red flags from these pics? I'm not looking to buy it, but would like to give her good advice.

It’s a pointed crown guard gmt from early 1960s with a later dial (Mk1 matte dial) and later hands. Insert is a fatty.

You’d need a Swiss only gilt dial and gmt handset with small gmt hand.

Depends on the serial! I have a transitional 874xxx PCG with wide swiss, no chapter gilt dial.

Also I think the hands are perhaps from a matte? Gotta check if the hour hand is flat or not.

Sweet watch...

PCG
Later dial and hands
Great insert

Solid beater...

Will never source a correct dial.

Honest piece that has collected a lot of service parts over the years. It wouldn’t be an easy task to put a price on it, but it could be done on a value as parts basis. As Matt said, I wouldn’t buy it as a project to restore. Just as a wearer or a parts watch.

That’s how a Rolex trader would see it.

$2.500 for the movement.
$2.000 for the insert.
$3.000 for the case.
$1.000 for the bezel.
$700 for the strap.
$1.500 for the dial and hands.
-------
$10’700
-$1’007 -10% for eBay.
-$503 -5% for PayPal.
-------

$9.190

For all the parts, if I did not forget anything.
Now it is a lot of work to sell multiple parts so it comes to how greedy the buyer will be.

Very expensive in my opinion.

My opinion is based in the photo. It had to be verified. Red back, good. Blue back, not good 👍

They exist.

Do you have some pics of blue back super fat font oval 8 Pepsi inserts? I’d be very curious to see them.
