·I just recently got a Globemaster annual calendar. I was all set to buy another watch with a crown on the dial but the dealer that I work with showed me this watch and said, you need to consider this one.
I have a few Omega's as well (most notably, a 1950s Seamaster and a caliber 1861 Speedmaster pro). I never expected to see this kind of quality at this price point on a watch (keeping in mind I have been living in Rolex land for a while.
For about 7K
I have a watch that is basically MRI compliant (1.5 Tesla). I wouldn't recommend wearing it into the study. The watch boasts 15,000 gauss protection. The competition has the Millgaus (The watch I intended to buy) and that has 1,000 gauss protection (The green glass looks nice, but I'd rather have a great design).
The watch that I bought has an annual calendar. The competition has one like that! It's called the Skydweller. If you want one, let's just say that you are going to pay a bundle (4-5X what I paid for the Globemaster).
This one came with a fluted bezel, a glass back, and an alligator strap. (The competition only has fluted bezels on these watches). The bracelets on Rolexes are surprisingly polarizing, you either love them, or you hate them. What you can't do is buy an alternative from the brand.
The box. I know it's a silly thing to care about, but when you spend good money on something, the packaging matters. Every time I get a watch that comes in one of those green boxes with the crown on it I cringe a little. Those boxes are plastic and really don't impress. The Globemaster was sold to me in a wooden box, with a leather interior.
So, that's my review. I really enjoy having this watch. If you haven't had the chance, and you are looking for something different, I recommend that you take a look. This watch didn't come with a crown, but there is a star on the dial!
