Yes, it is too late. Why does anybody think it is ok to press the buy-it-now button and reneg on the deal?
presumably we are all responsible for our own actions, I know I am, and if I buy something I BUY SOMETHING.
Unless it specifically says, you can change your mind, or return it, etc, etc...I think it is very poor form.
I agree with you, totally- it is up to the buyer to do their homework before the purchase. I have followed through on purchases I regretted after giving it thought, price had been agreed upon and a written commitment given (not just on eBay), and had to chalk it up to impulse or ignorance- but that's a personal moral choice. If the OP wants to cancel the sale, it is his right and happens commonly on eBay despite the rules stating otherwise (has happened to many members here as sellers). Wether we agree ethically is not the issue, nor should we judge the OP's choices.

Nicely put 👍

Yup! This is why this forum highly encourages getting help prior to a sale than after.

Yes this was listed as an actual Omega. I contacted the seller hoping to cancel the order and still no response. When I said I paid $150 I had not yet finalized the order as in I won the auction for it and hadn't given payment. Thanks for the help, I will have to be more careful next time and not jump the gun on buying so quickly...

So I asked the seller very politely to cancel as I have changed my mine... however should i say something about it being fake? Or should I save that in case they make me pay and then open a return case once I get it? Sorry guys I'm still relatively new to ebay and this is the first time I've made a bad purchase.

The listing said it is an Omega watch but in the description says no gurantee or warranty.

If the watch was offered as an original Omega watch, in my opinion you also have the right to cancel the deal due to deception. I would have given the seller exactly this reason.

Shall I send another message stating it's a fake or wait until I get a reply from my first message?

I would wait for the seller's message first. Depending on how friendly and accommodating it is, I would address the issue with the fake.

I agree with this, but this watch appears to be counterfeit, which is against eBay rules, and perhaps is worse than reneging on a commitment. Even if the watch is legitimate, but described incorrectly, it may be in everyone's best interest to cancel the sale, since the buyer could force a return after receiving it, which would just be a waste of time, effort, and shipping costs.

They can’t force you to pay. They can open a non payment claim, which asks eBay to step in. If the watch is fake, you have that on your side. Non payment claims only have a negative impact on you if you have numerous non payment claims against your account.

Wait a bit, it's the weekend. Don't pay. If you don't get a response or the seller gives you a hard time, just say that experts on a collectors forum told you it is a counterfeit watch. He will cancel the sale and ban you from future purchases.

How do I avoid receiving negative feedback in this whole experience?

I really appreciate all the help in this matter, thanks guys. I've never purchased an Omega online before, all my previous purchases have been in person where I can verify easily.

I don’t believe sellers can leave negative feedback on buyers.

Don’t leave feedback until the seller has left his.

Correct. A seller can give positive feedback and include negative comments, but nobody reads those anyway. And since he is selling a fake watch, he won't want to engage you anyway.

Until you really know how to spot real vs fake on eBay, stick to the classified's here. The FS section here is about as safe as you can get.

Yeah... I have sold numerous film cameras through auction on eBay that have ended in cancellation for silly reasons. How I wished I had the option to leave negative feedback because sellers need to know how trustworthy buyers are too. Not even a non payment claim will result in negative feedback.

I had a camera end in auction at $1,200 with the last seconds having an intense bidding war. Minutes after the winning bid was received that person messaged me saying “I was literally just mugged and everything I had was stolen. I only have $200 dollars to my name but I still want you camera. Will you sell it to me for that price??” Nope.

Another bidding war between three buyers in the final seconds on a different camera I sold resulted with that person messaging me “I bid up on this because I wanted it but it’s not worth that price. I will give you xxxx amount instead.” Nope

Not to mention the endless non payers with zero effort to communicate anything to me. Not once had I the option to leave negative feedback.

Stories like this remind me of why I stopped selling on eBay. I sold a rather rare LP on eBay, it was near flawless and highly collectible. Buyer reached out a week after he got it and said he didn't like the record. I asked if there was something wrong with the condition and he said it was in fine condition, he just didn't like the music and wanted to return it. After I explained to him that was not cause for a return, he never responded. I'm willing to bet if he pressed it, I would have had to take it back.
