I received the strap today, so it took 21 days - not bad at all.

My impressions:
1) it looks exactly like the picture in the eBay listing.
2) The quality is very good for the price paid. It fits perfectly between the lugs of the Bostok watch. I’m quite certain it is made of leather after inspecting the material with a loupe.
3) It’s thicker than what I’m used to, and may be a bit too much for this vintage Bostok. Should look fine with a tool watch though.
4) Overall very good value. $4.76

cool.

mine is on it's way

I do the same thing and have spent a lot of time and money learning along the way (mainly 2 piece leather straps). My main take aways are 1. you USUALLY get what you pay for. Every now and then someone is selling their straps for too cheap but that’s a rarity. 2. The importance of the type/quality of leather cannot be overstated. 3. Hodinkee is overpriced 😀 4. Etsy is a crapshoot 5. Horween leather is the bees knees (shell cordovan is worth the $) and 6. Some of the best bang for buck as far as best price and quality I’ve come across are Molequin and Wind Up watch shop on Worn and Wound

Oh and... 7. Suede leather (quality suede) is awesome and usually looks killer at first but if you don’t put suede leather protector and also suede cleaner to it every so often it starts looking pretty gnarly, especially with greasy munchkins always putting their dirty hands on you. Not a bad idea to go distressed if suede because yours will soon start looking that way unless you’re bubble boy.

Glad yours worked out well! I must’ve been sent a dud! Funnily enough the bag it came in was still in my drawer at the office and I opened it this week.....still smells like hell!

I have a couple high end custom straps made by a well respected and revered strap maker that uses English and Italian leathers that smell so badly I can’t wear them. I’ve tried airing them out, leather cream, baking soda in a closed container- still bad. After months of airing them out I thought they were better but once they heat up on the skin I can smell them when I bring my arm near my face and my wrist stinks for 24 hours after wearing them.
Guess the price doesn’t matter sometimes.

I didn't have time to take a pic of my 40-50 NATO, ZULU and other one-piece straps. I've added few since this picture.
Now that is impressive. I want to get two good leather straps for my Connie and speedy. The Connie just something nice but the speedy I’d like to get the omega strap and deployment. A speedy I tried on at an AD had one and although I like steel it just looked so good on that omega leather the salesman almost talked me into putting me credit on the case and get the 5,400 watch. I just couldn’t do it though I had brought my wife to a work conference in Boston and I know she would ask me what I did and I told her I spent a couple mortgage payments on a watch it would have been a torturous 3 hour ride home.

You can always add a strap to your existing watch, without buying a watch to go with it 😉

I have the Omega Barenia leather with deployant clasp on my 145.022-74 and it’s so comfortable and looks great, that I don’t use the original 1171 bracelet and can preserve it.

Not pictured is my new Snoopy black strap with white stitching on deployant clasp that I bought for my Mitsukoshi modded 3572.50 (to swap in place of the bracelet). I haven’t installed it yet, but suspect the watch will be more comfortable on a strap.

I figure if I want a modern Speedy on leather, I have my Speedy Tuesday on the leather which is also very comfortable- but I prefer a deployant strap when possible. That’s why I switched my GSOTM to the grey leather with Ti deployant clasp, but have two spare pin and buckle straps (the original and one I got in trade).

Thanks for the input. I did try Renovateur Saphir, it didn't seem to do much , but it does have a great smell ! Cologne for watches !
You’ll need Saphir Canadian on top of that to seal the Renovateur in - ie to protect your clothes etc from the oil

I received all 5 of mine 10 days ago right before I left for vacation - bought them not long after Deafboy received his. I haven't inspected them yet, but I recall that they smell like leather and not nasty like some leather from China.

Curious to know your impression of your straps.

Well, as I said, they don't stink i.e. smell bad - they smell like regular leather. They are supposed to be distressed leather, but they don't have the cracked aged look to them, they just look like a variegated color on new leather. Construction seems fine, not too thin.

They all seem to have a striated pattern to them, unlike the auction where only some of the colors were like that. However, on one of them the strap side with the buckle is more of a mottled leather pattern, while the strap side with the holes is a striated pattern. See pic.

I got light coffee, dark coffee, brown, green, and yellow. I think the 1st pic below is yellow, and the second below is green. The green isn't really green green, but brown with a hint of green tint. The 3rd I think is dark coffee, then brown, then the last I think is the light coffee.

I received my 'brown' strap from these guys-- it only took 10 days to arrive from Asia. The striated pattern, as mentioned above, is quite pronounced. I'd say you get what you paid for on these.

sorry, hate to keep pimping these.

but i can't say enough good things about the barton elite silicone. it's the best rubber straps i've ever had, even vintage tropics and vintage isofrane..... it's exceptional.

if you buy one you will 100% be amazed. it's only $20...and i will say is better than the expensive isofrane......boom i said it

Looking and not buying is an affirmation that your current strap is your favorite. That is not a bad thing, OP.
