I’m surprised you’re not all over cheapestnatostraps.com They’ve got a good selection but you do get what you pay for.

are you saying i can get nato's for less than 1 dolla......

Hi, just to say, many moons ago I bought a strap EXACTLY as those in the eBay link, exact advert everything, but I think a different seller...

Anyhoo, don’t waste even one penny. It arrived and I could smell the chemicals from the plastic (it isn’t leather despite what was advertised) before I open the package. They smelled so bad that my colleagues on neighbouring desks complained about a burning plastic smell!

Possibly dangerous to wear on the skin... didn’t find out, went straight in the bin!

maybe it was the dye you smelled? or a combo of cheap dye, cheap leather and glue packaged air tight right after production?

I actually thought the same, so, before I binned it “tested” the material with a lighter.... it melted! 🤮

I've currently got an active note stored on my iPhone comparing Watchgecko, PBCode, and Benchmarkbasics Nato's, so I understand lol. I'm seeing how they hold up and if the extra $$ is worth it for the watchgecko. This is my first post btw, I'm enjoying learning on the forum so far.

so it melted like cheez, and didn't cook like steak? additives and preservatives,,,,i think that's clark griswold's dept...

i've actually owned a really shitty leather belt that basically broke in two when i folded it. it was like cardboard after a few years of non steady use and being exposed to both really hot and cold conditions. it was a tj maxx, cal klein clearance special for eight smackers

I am a Blueshark man- love their straps- and I hate Nato’s (but seem to own dozens of them 🤨
Have had luck with Gecko bracelets on newer watches- but they tend to be a bit chunky for the slimmer lugged vintage pieces.
Never tried the Uncle Seiko or Strapcode. I’m
Always looking for good bracelet options for the vintage pieces, but they are either too chunky or not made in 18/19 which is what most vintage take.

It is pretty easy to carefully file down a 20mm to 18/19.
Just go slow , measure and measure with digital calipers.
Qed.

Well, I just placed an order for one. We'll see (in a month or so...) how well they're made.

will prolly pull the 4 dolla trigger as well.

i will say that barton makes a very comfy elite silicone strap for 20. the keeper stays in place and it's not thick. if you've had bad experience with rubber straps i think this one will help you.

i can't say enough good things about the barton elite silicone. it's the best rubber straps i've ever had, it's exceptional and not too thick or paper thin.

if you buy one you will 100% be amazed

I didn't have time to take a pic of my 40-50 NATO, ZULU and other one-piece straps. I've added few since this picture.

and i usually don't even end up buying.

i really do love my eulit's though.

Regarding straps, agreed. Once you settle on your collection straps are a great way to keep the watch(es) fresh. As for the Eulit, it felt harsh to me. Maybe I didn't give it a chance to break in but it wasn't comfortable.

some of the cheap ones aren't nearly as comfortable. and they don't work as well on heavier watches.

i guess some eulits could have sharp edges, that you need to take an emory board to a little. they are a lil stiff, but they're thin, breathable and malleable

I received the strap today, so it took 21 days - not bad at all.

My impressions:
1) it looks exactly like the picture in the eBay listing.
2) The quality is very good for the price paid. It fits perfectly between the lugs of the Bostok watch. I’m quite certain it is made of leather after inspecting the material with a loupe.
3) It’s thicker than what I’m used to, and may be a bit too much for this vintage Bostok. Should look fine with a tool watch though.
4) Overall very good value. $4.76

Has any other member noticed that some bespoke black straps seem to fade ?
I have two/three that have gone from black to very dark brown. I haven't tried a remedy yet as didnt want to discolour the contrasting stitching. Ideas anyone ?

I would try a neutral leather cream- won’t discolor the stitch and may help rehydrate the leather.
But only do it on the up side- will get slimy against your skin

Thanks for the input. I did try Renovateur Saphir, it didn't seem to do much , but it does have a great smell ! Cologne for watches !
