🙄Forget all the other stuff, surely these missing emoji are the priority??? Admittedly, I've never used beer, horse, or explody head, but I've seen them a lot and might want to use them one day....

Hi, I generally like the new forum. Just one little request - is there a way to make the hyperlinks more prominent? The current shade of blue kinda blends in with the black text. Otherwise the new improvements are pretty cool, thanks for the hard work!

Agreed. It'll be in a future update. Cheers

If you need help I was proficient in Fortran 4 back in the day. Someone will need to type the punch cards though👍 Regards. Bill

One night back in my youth, a mate and I had pulled a late shift in the data centre. The SNCO on duty asked us to take two trays (big wooden things holding millions of cards) downstairs to the computer room.

Halfway down, he tripped in front of me and we both shot thousands of cards into the air.

Using or new found military training (i.e. don't get caught), we quickly stuffed all of the cards back into the trays (apparently in random order), left them on the counter and bolted for the door.

There were some very strange outputs for the next week or two, nobody could figure out why 😁

That's why you always numbered the cards on the back!

And here I was thinking life was tough when I had to install MS Office for Windows 95 from a stack of about 44 3.5" floppies

This could very easily turn into an IT version of the "Four Yorkshiremen" sketch

My college had a card sorter. Worth its weight in platinum. 😜

After a week, this has really grown on me so, many thanks for all the effort that you've put in.

It does seem that I can now delete my own threads and change the titles. Did we always have that option? I probably just missed it.

Hello team,

Is there any option to delete older messages from the PM section? I have not seen any yet - maybe I just have overlooked?
If there isn´t any for now would you please implement such an option - would be much appreciated.

I was also hesitant in the beginning but now I become used to the new website. Thank you very much for the load of work you do for the community!

best

😁 This is hilarious, almost silly for today standard. But I experienced it several times. IIRC during my undergraduate study.
Life become easier when CD-ROM became more common, and Hard disk capacity broke 500 Mb barrier.

My first PC was an IBM 5150, which came with one 5.25" floppy drive. No hard disk (disc actually) was offered. I paid for an extra floppy drive and an extra 128K of RAM. The amazing thing wasn't the "Abort, Retry, Ignore" messages (later changed to Abort, Retry, Fail") but that they were as reliable as they were. I have some 5.25" floppies that are 35 years old ( !!!) and still readable. One of these days I'm going to get around to archiving them onto something more durable and faster but that will be a two or three day project. (And of course, NOT all of them will be readable. Abort, Retry, Ignore. And I hate to say it, but if you DO keep pressing Retry often enough sometimes you can read the entire thing.)
