AFAIK adverts are personalised to an extent and tailored towards your search history. Could there be a reason you are getting "bombarded with politics"?
I gladly pay the upgrade cost to assist the forum running costs and avoid ads completely but in an election year I suspect its hard to block all political content.

Why are you getting any ads as a paid subscriber? I get zero ads on this site.

I get ads in the Stories section, not within community forums/pages; Archer and others noted this yesterday.

If that’s true, how does it explain why @Scarecrow Boat constantly gets ads for bearded rodeo clowns and leather harnesses?

I don't search politics it's nuts
We throw off a data cloud in daily life in the web. Think of that cloud in terms of a massive matrix of ven diagrams that pinpoint areas from which algorithms can target you for various comms. OF is simply permitting ad serving on the site. The have no input into what you are seeing. It’s the programmatic algorithms targeting you. If they are showing up in your e-mail, move to junk. Do not try to unsubscribe because getting you doing that means that an impression was confirmed. All this said, you subscribe so I don’t get why you see adverts…

That was my post yesterday and as I brought it up in the forum section I think it would be nice but not a deal breaker. I still read the stories section for valuable information and they are less instrusive if you ever are on the forum section without a subscirption.

The ones in my ads have assless chaps. I guess Aaron gets the classy clowns.

The articles section here has adverts. I was served adds featuring attractive females in supportive undergarments yesterday. Clearly I must show up as a 12 year old lad.

Darn, I went to the stories section just to check it out and I got ads for a luxury shopping outlet in Paris.🥱

Edit/ add -those algorithms must have read the Ikea cookies on my phone. I’ve been outed 🙄

“Classy clowns” sounds like some kind of hideous codeword. I don’t want to know what goes on out there.

Algorithims are the digital equivalent to the kids my parents didn’t want me to hang around with.

All you have to do is read a few political articles online and voilà! Bombardement galore. I watched a few videos on knife sharpening on YouTube and now I keep getting knife and knife sharpening product ads on other sites. ( net here as a paid subscriber)
