I have a feeling that the rolex SD4000 116600 prices still can go up.

This watch if im not mistaken is one of those rolex watch with the least production years.

I found out that dealers in my area are selling it for USD 12,000. Still way below the hulk and batman.
Just my random thougth

Is that feeling more like a Spider sense or a Peter tingle? 😕

On the grey market they're up a bit. Nothing crazy like the BMan or Daytona, but incrementally worth more than retail.

Best 6 digit steel Rolex made so far, with an LVc potentially being the exception.

Sadly I passed several years ago and can’t bring myself to pay above retail on such a relatively modern watch.

I've seen a few of these pop up here and there in retail. I think that's because it is a beefier watch, certainly not something my chicken wrists can handle 🙁

I have the feeling that the last five-digit reference, date model, SS Submariner will be selling for more of its original MSRP! (keep spreading the rumor so it becomes a reality!) 😀

Sd4k is a great watch and imo has the best case / lugs out of any of the new 6 digit dive watches. However it’s still a Seadweller and not a Sub. Don’t get me wrong, I prefer a 116600 over a 116610, but most don’t because of thickness / fit so imo it’s not going to climb a ton higher anytime soon.

Even knowing that that they are only in production for 3 years? 2014-2017 (please correct me if im wrong).

I agree with you that the demand dictate the price and there are so many other rolex models that are much more desirable for the market than this.

But this is the first 40mm seadweller that uses ceramic bezel, it fits more wrist than the bigger SD, it have the classic rolex feeling on the wrist but with the modern technologies, and if im not mistaken among all models rolex produce this SD the least, the second is the fatlady coke.

And the market nowadays have more access to informations, so its only a matter of time before this info gets to them, and they realise the importance of this 116600 to the SD history which will make the demands and value for this watch go higher than what it is today.

I might be wrong tho.

Do you happen to own one?

No, im trying to save money for this watch but its still a long way to go. And i dont think i can resist temptations from the many beautiful sports watches with lower price.

Btw i learn about this from Tim Mosso on his youtube video review and from bobswatches.com

Here’s the link for more info :

So if im mistaken about this, blame them too. Lol

I do understand the short production span, but just a few years ago I was selling them in the high 6’s to low 7’s. So while Hulks and BLNR’s have climbed and people are talking about them please realize the sd4k has as well, but it started at a lower price point. The main difference is the HULK and BLNR are both in production still and the sd4k isn’t. You’d think the sd4k would have shot through the roof in comparison, but since it’s just kept up with the current inflation of modern Rolex prices, and we did see a jump when it was discontinued and not much since, I don’t really think we will see them climb very much higher. There just isn’t the global love and following like the other two models. Just my 2 cents

the real question is if it will drop as much as the others during a "correction"

Rarity doesn't always equal popularity, and just because a watch has been discontinued doesn't necessarily mean it will skyrocket in price.

The SD4K wasn't that popular when it was in production, mainly because it was so similar in appearance to the Sub Date, and even Sub No Date, along with being heavier and more expensive. I owned a SD4K for a while and was underwhelmed. It seemed top heavy for my 7-inch wrist. I now wear a 116610 as my only modern Rolex, and it's a lot more comfortable but still gives me that chunky Rolex dive watch feel. Just my 2 cents.
