·Hey guys, I've recently received a vintage Omega Automatic Seamaster from my dad who bought this watch from an antique shop in Malaysia 30 years ago. I am trying to learn more about it and I've recently sent it to the Omega service center in Switzerland for inspection/servicing. It still worked after being wound, despite being left in a cabinet without use for 20 years!
The service center has just received it but it appears they have opened it up because my online tracker has been updated with the serial number - 10980365. According to online serial number checkers, the watch was manufactured between 1944-1946. I've referred to a few, including https://serial-number-decoder.co.uk/omega/omega.htm and https://www.emmywatch.com/db/serial/omega/. However, Omega did not release the Seamaster until 1948. Not too sure what to make of this but I am aware that these sites are just estimates not and not official Omega numbers.
I am just trying to identify its make and whether it is fake or not. And if it is real, how much is it worth?
PS: Sorry if the photo isn't really clear. I just took one shot before I sent it off before deciding to post here.
