I am building my dream watch

Using a full 100% sapphire case sourced from the factory that makes them for some of the most prestigious brands in the world.

The case was designed for an ETA 2824 movement. I found someone who customized them into full skeletons. They are very well done.

I am now in the process of designing my own custom dial.

What do you think?

Yes this project is very expensive but sapphire watches in general cost an arm and a leg.

Let me know what you think.

It does to fill the blank space around the edges but perhaps not in the middle

What a cool project! Were you involved in designing the case? I'm curious of the technical details, how you tested the design before commiting to sapphire, etc.

If only the movement was fully decorated...

I’m actively looking for someone to decorate it if you know of anyone please let me know! That would be epic!!!

The case manufacturer has the design for ETA movements as samples for the large manufactures. I was able to get my hands on one.

the dial is to conservative, old fadhioned for this project (only my opinion)

perhabs this dial can be chrome plated and than no numerals,
indices on it - nothing or perhabs only a applied "10" or a logo
at the 10 position

than also the hands can be in a modern style, for example
like on ming watches

Get a sapphire dial with hands that show sufficient contrast with the movement parts.

If you want a solid dial I would get one with a special finish - enamel, hand painted lacquer or porcelain.

I agree, the proposed dial is horrible and would crucify the design of the watch if you went ahead.

A lightly tinted sapphire dial would be my choice, with very understated indexes in silver/chrome.

Something like these dials, ignore all of the indexes/hands/markings.

I have made knife handles with it, and know someone that makes guitar picks with it…

The proposed dial is not for deign. it is only for the shape. The actual design is way different.

Look up Artya watches. Those nerds do interesting things with sapphire cases and dials.

I know them very well. They make some really cool stuff. A lot of inspiration for my build.

Know them well enough to source their movement and complete your dyi project? I dig their contemporary take. If you can put together a $120k watch for say $10k. Major win.

The dial ruins it. Maybe print the dial on the inside of the crystal like Accutron did back in the day?

I suspect you "know them well" because you got your case the same place they did. Good score, in any case.

UPDATE: DIAL CHANGES
We have made serious revision to the dial. Now the full skeleton movement is shown. The screws will be counter sunk to be flush.
