Just was wondering today on how often you guys and gals wear your special and rare pieces?

The other thing I was wondering about was when you do, do you find yourself being extra careful about knocks etc.? Maybe extra chunky jumper to protect it 😁
If it doesn’t get worn it gets sold. Sadly since everything gets worn I am becoming what the Squirrell has dubbed an OF “Black Hole” . You can’t wear em in crap weather or near water or in harms way of course. Modern or beaters fill those applications. Insurance helps.

This is my 90 year old Rolex Prince Observatory duo-dial. Some here have said if they are afraid to wear a particular watch, they don’t own it! 🤨 If this one is on my wrist for one day each year, that’s about it. Of those who ascribe to the wear it or dump it philosophy, how often would they wear this one?

Lovely but once a year is still in rotation!

Well I don’t wear long sleeves at work, but I can still slide a cuff over a watch to protect it.

LOL

I am guilty of not wearing some of my rare pieces for fear of damaging them. Yes, I should try to wear them.

Daily. Not sure I own many rare pieces but they're all special to me, and I wear a premoon daily.
I sell what I don't wear, can't afford to keep pieces that cost mucho k$ for the sake of owning them: I need to enjoy the damn things !

I wear them as well , being retired there is not much risk.
Beware of "occassions " mine was a big birthday , well 2/3 bottles of champagne later I am saying goodbye to guests and forget that I moved the garden hose and there I am in the flower beds with a new mark on my beloved 2998 bezel !
Silly thing was nobody there would have recognised my watch anyway.
QED.

All my current pieces are ones I wear on a regular basis. I've learnt that it's not good to hold onto things when they're not being used.

I'd say out of my collection below only one isn't particularly "rare"...they all have their own value of "rare" in my eyes.

The scariest part was when my dad saw I was taking this photo and said "Mate, I reckon just by a glance I can tell how much this whole lot is worth" and the number he gave was very close to what I had actually spent! I was a bit shocked and he said "You wouldn't be keeping them otherwise..."

This is the piece, my 5 year old, factory sealed all rounder, I worry about most now and it’s only because it’s maker has made a new one unobtainium ...
