Hang out with a lawyer or two for a few months and you'll start to catch on.

Actually I am hanging with a lawyer (or maybe even two, depends on drinking days) 24/7 because I am an attorney myself 馃榿 Besides, I am using the fictional term 'lying' in the OF circle of trust only, in outer space I've got some more distinguished vocabulary in stock. Of course, it's not lying but just twisting the facts 馃槈

P.S. Youze guyz should forgive me for not knowing the official language around here: I am the new boy.

What's wrong with the old classic?

"I found it."
Sorry but if she is that dumb, she is going to cost you a fortune.

So, as my collection of vintage timepieces grows rapidly, it gets harder and harder to justify in front of my wife the purchase of each and every little gem 馃榿 I'm finding myself making out stupid excuses and here are my greatest (platinum) hits:

1. Found that one in a dusty drawer, belonged to late grandpa.
2. Traded old stuff for the latest addition.
3. It's crap, bought it for 20 bucks on eBay.
4. A grateful client of mine gave it away to me for winning a big case of his in civil court.
5. Obtained it in a poker game (what a night).
6. Watchmaker lended it to me for testing.

Running out of options here, what's your excuse for spending crazy cash on Omegas rather than on your kids' college fund? 馃槈

P.S. Are the OF threads being searched and cached by Google? 馃榿 馃槣
Used 1-3...best part is she thinks they all look the same so she does not new from old or ...

If she notices, I lend it it to her.

If anything about that statement were to bother me, or not ring true, I would be with the wrong woman for me.

And then there's the classic:

"Don't you remember I traded that watch a few weeks ago? So I finally received it."

She will hesitate for a second but before she can react continue:

"so what do you think? Leather or Nato or steel, and which Nato? I have this one and that one... Or the vintage leather....do you think it's a left wrist watch or a right wrist watch? How does it compare with the xxx? Seriously what t do you think...WHAT DO YOU THINK?"

She will NEVER ask again

Or something along the lines of, "But honey this one has the steel chrono brake, where my other one has the Delrin! You see, it's a whole different movement when you view it that way. They switched to Delrin because it's a highly durable polymer...." and on and on.

She'll definitely never ask again!

you can start buying brands shes not familiar with...
-is that a new watch? omega? rolex?
-nothing special, just a old cheap watch a bought for $100 on ebay
-whats the brand?
-universal geneve/jaeger lecoultre etc

or you can always start using the military watch bands that @Mad Dog is using that cover the whole dial 馃榾

Excellent thread!

I get everything delivered to me at work and if she ever says anything I use the 'Oh, I swapped this for another' or 'I have had this for ages, you said you liked it'.

I have dozens upon dozens of cufflinks too, and the same rules apply.

I am truthful with my wife about just about everything else so I don't feel too bad.

In a shaky voice, eyes furtively darting about.

Seriously, I'M IN CHARGE at my house. Yes sir.
