how do you demonstrate the rarity of your watch.

hello, many collectors claim the rarity of their watch. an example of Omega Seamaster or Speedmaster that many claim to be rare. what evidence does this prove?
I think it's a difficult question to answer. I think it is difficult to say that there are few in the world. we know the quantity of watches produced only on limited editions. exact

I don't
I rarely talk about or try to exhibit my watches.
If someone asks I am willing to talk about it, depending on their knowledge and questions I decide how much I want to share.
If someone says something along the lines of "is that real" I snicker and say yeah right or laugh and what do you think to kinda convey the idea its fake but as I said if they seem knowledgeable and are asking legit questions I will talk to them.
I do not need people to start thinking I may be a good target to case and rob.
I can't tell you how many people I have convinced my Rolex Exp II is fake (mine has a Daytona crystal so there's no cyclops) or my SD as everyone knows all Rolex's have a cyclops LOL....

ok in the collectible watchmaking world it takes a long time to learn. by customizing your Explorer you can convince expert people that it is fake, but in reality it is not. there are many who claim that his watch is rare, it could also be by date for writings, etc ... a watch that we say rare by production date, only Rolex can say, that actually knows how many produced and sold that model . however Rolex or Omega will never say anything about their sales etc. So, in your speech, you can say that rolex Explorer ii is rare, but for a user to buy a watch it is to say that it is rare that it is wrong. buy the watch and then buy the bracelet or crystal etc. you personalize it is rare. now I understand thanks for the very kind reply.

Or a Frankenwatch all depending on what you do.
I have my original Rolex crystal and can easily switch it back nor do I feel its Franken as it has an authentic Rolex crystal on it.
But a Rolex Explorer isn't rare, perhaps a Tiffany Dial one with receipt from Tiffany or a Cream Pantined exp ii.

The rarity of your watch doesn’t necessarily make it sought after or desirable.

(Almost) nobody cares of a one-off valjoux 22 jumbo stainless steel chrono from the late 1940s with a specific case/dial/hands combination.

Just the opposite to the modern sport steel Rolex watches, for example.

I surmise from the conversation in this thread that Rolex is the main subject matter. The rarest Rolex we ever found in the south pacific Philippine islands was a 6429 Commando. My wife bought it about 10 years ago from a retired USA serviceman living up north of Manila in Angeles City. We used to wear it and show it to fellow collectors who scoffed at it and insisted it was a fake since at the time there was only 4 known legit examples in the world. Ours turned out to legitimately be #5, and is now part of our friend Eric Ku's personal collection. If something you own is truly rare there is no need to demonstrate that to the casual watch enthusiast. Experts will know practically before you even take it off your wrist.

Actually, I think it’s about Omega

un esempio di Omega Seamaster o Speedmaster che molti

I just think it’s easier to use Rolex as an example for questions like these... but honestly, I have no idea what’s being asked in this thread. I would love if there were translate features haha.

No...I already said it was about Rolex as I speak Italian and therefore know. Well actually I don't really speak Italian but I know the proper pronunciation of "pizza" in the tri-state area is "ahbeetz". 😁

Purely based on the title of this thread (I don’t know what’s being asked beyond that)

I wouldn’t go around boasting the rarity of what I have. I don’t buy things to show off. I enjoy having one off/rare items but I keep that enjoyment to myself. If, say I run into another group member of go to a GTG, I would happily talk about my watch, but outside of that, I wouldn’t walk around showing it off.

I just wish that my Dad hadn’t pawned that 1958 2915-1 that he bought as my birth year watch. Damn that guy. 🙄

Neither do I. Heck I don't even have a garage and am forced to park on my front lawn.

You too? My wife and I get so tired of having to walk up the driveway to the house ...

For those of us that don't speak Italian, I thought I'd go ahead and post the crude English translation that Google Translate produces.

Pgomeg says:

ciao, molti collezionisti rivendicano la rarità del loro orologio. un esempio di Omega Seamaster o Speedmaster che molti sostengono di essere rari. quali prove dimostra questo?

Google Translate for that is:

hello, many collectors claim the rarity of their watch. an example of Omega Seamaster or Speedmaster that many claim to be rare. what evidence does this prove?

In a later post, Pgomeg says:

I didn't think you were so attentive to the speech, I modified because the translator does not translate well. Not even the time to modify you copied all the messages.

Ah no biggie as we're having a good time in this thread no matter what it's supposed to be about. 😁
