How could this happen??

X2 on desk diving. My clasp was far worse within a few weeks of ownership. I was stunned but I got over it. And I'm sure it'll get cleaned up when it's serviced.

Rolex's are scratch magnets. I have more scratches and marks on my 5 month old Explorer than on my two year old Seiko SKX, and the Explorer has a satin finish, not the high polish of a DJ.

Don't worry about it and accept it'll pick up scratches.

The first scratch on anything is the worst. But once you’ve popped your cherry, you can relax and enjoy a certain freedom from fear. The great news is that most scratches easily come out if you know how to do polish / finish. Watch some videos on YouTube to get a sense of how repairable these watches really are and you may feel better.

Can anyone see the scratch across the 4 at 40 on my bezel. Happened last night and it’s annoying me.

Hello everyone,

I was wearing my DJ today when I noticed a line that resembles a big scratch.. Initially I thought it was dirt but after I was trying to get it off I realized that it was not only in the center polished link but in the brushed links as well. The weird thing is thay I cannot feel the scratch at all with bear hands and I am really surprised as I am very careful with my watches and at least I would know if I have banged it somewhere..
Any idea how this could happen?

The Formica tops of modern desks and the surface of a MacBook Pro will both scratch the living heck out of stainless steel.

Don’t worry about this! I wouldn’t even polish it as you will get another scratch soon. The first one is always the most difficult to get over... I know that feeling 😀

If it really annoys you I suggest use masking tape to protect the brushed surfaces and simply polish up the shiny center link. The brushed surface might still have a bit of scratch showing but once the center is polished up it won't be so noticeable. Don't try re-brushing anything as that's where things get dangerous.

I think I cracked it : that watch spent the night in a box with some Omegas...and naturally they got the better of it...

So there's this young, urban professional buying himself a new Mercedes. He takes it for their first ride and as it is a truly splendid day he rolls his window down to let the world share in his fabulous sound system. He has his left arm out of the open window waving to the beat when an out-of-control delivery van sideswipes his car, ripping his left arm off at the elbow.

In horror he stares at the bloody stump and begins to scream "My Rolex! My Rolex!"

As posted above, it happened because you wore it, as it was made to be! 😉 And you're going to lots more scratches, swirls and dings! Here's my 1996 14060, my daily wearer, serviced but never polished:

That's not scratched - it has a "Natural brushed finish"

Is watchuseek down?

Yea usually this type of clickbait thread title is found there. It wouldn't take much to include a bit of subject matter into titles would it.
