How come people rarely talk about the new Constellation Globemaster

For me it's the fluted bezel that bothers me. So not original. Way to steal Datejust design.
Used a hallmark Rolex design element... pretty convincing argument that Omega had a Fluted bezel first, and Rolex was far from the first to have it.

Speaking of theft ever see the first Daytona’s or a pre Daytona...you will speedily recognize what it was based on.

There isn't much that hasn't been done before, when it comes to designing items that have been around for a century or more. Watches, knives, coffee mugs...

Well never mind then. Should've done my homework first.

I've enjoyed the thread. People were giving their opinions.

That's how we learn something new by exchanging opinions instead of trolling and talking shit to each other.

Many of us love vintage watches because of their proportions and details. They are finer.

The modern offerings often produce an unconvincing or unresolved-feeling product in detail or proportions.

In the case of the Globemaster it’s the proportions.

Similar feelings to most here. I really wanted to like it. Tried it on and it was just a bit meehh. Nicely built, shiny and everything but felt a bit sterile. That was a while ago and I might have another try.

As for that new abomination Globemaster Annual Calendar: could they have fitted any more letters on that dial? I can't imagine they are jumping out the door. How many of us are really uncertain about what month it is? And even if you were, would this watch help?

What is interesting is that you dont see many for sale. Is that because not many have been sold, or those that have bought are really hanging on to them?

In my opinion the problem with all/the majority of new designs from Omega is that before they have even hit the market, or there after had the chance to settle into the minds of modern Omega buyers and to become a 'wanted watch', there are already another 50 new designs/limited editions being pushed out of the door.

This saturating of the market with constant multiple re-designs of the same watches ( think for example of all the completely different modern versions of the Railmaster ) coupled with loads of new model releases really weakens Omega's standing IMO and leaves an interesting watch like the Globemaster without a clear identity for the long term, it's just 'another' new Omega model soon to be left on the hype sidelines by today's hot new item.

Omega has done this pretty much from the start (there are countless variations of many vintage models too), so it's nothing new in terms of strategy, and so far it's worked pretty well for them I would say.

Again their primary goal is to create value for shareholders, not satisfy a small segment of watch collectors. Sometimes those goals align, but more often than not they don't, and to them it doesn't matter much as long as the primary objective is being met.

Ahem... dibs!

I sold it to @Tiger8888 last year, and I think he recently sold it here to another member... so you’ll need to hunt down those dibs. 😉

And then after I'd sold it, I regretted it... so went looking for another and got this. Which @lando has dibs on. 👍

I really like it! Always have, but don’t see why this is $7,000 USD as opposed to a Planet Ocean for $6,500 USD and Aqua Terra with the same 8900 movement for $5,500 USD.

Also my AD has never had one in stock for me to check out, guess they don’t think it will sell?

It's a shame it is not more popular. Perhaps in the future it will be more popular. The vintage was so cool.

They lost me at the fonts they used, I know they’re historic, but I don’t like swirly fonts on a watch. The Constellation and Speedmaster fonts are flawless

That seems harsh: only the G is really swirly.
Nothing wrong with being picky, though. There are a lot of watches to choose from.
