Article doesn't shed light on anything, just continues to obfuscate. They continue to state the travel clock sold out:
"In short, like every other HODINKEE branded product, we tried to create something special and thoughtful. And we are really proud of the end result. And based on how fast it sold, we know that some people feel the same way."
I actually do believe them - I don't doubt there are 96 people with too much disposable income and not enough watch knowledge but come with the assumption that no matter what since it is a Hodinkee LE they will always be able to sell it for the retail price if not double or triple. A potent combination.
Wait, a minute, I know who bought all of the clocks!

Not sure what bankers have done to you, but you don't seem very fond of this very large category of people 😕

For those hoping this would be addressed in any way on the Hodinkee podcast, the answer is a resounding no. It looks as though their strategy is to not talk about the controversy, perhaps hoping that those who bought the clock are blissfully unaware of everything that is being said.

Man what really grinds my gears is them talking about "Automated Manufacturing in Asia"
I'm Asian and I take great offense at that...... Grand Seikos are made in Asia, as well isn't it.
