Hi!

I am looking for some opinions on the authenticity of this watch.

I have won the auction for £1350 but I am not confident that this is real, the bracelet looks to perfect.

Please have a look at the attached photos.

Thanks in advance

It's quite easy to rebrush the finish of a bracelet, if that's your concern, although I can't see any end-link numbers. I'm more curious about what the experts will say about the 14900 reference with a cal 562 movement. This usually gets interesting.

I'm no expert on the model, but the crown is an incorrect replacement.

And an obvious point: why would you not request help before making the purchase?

I would be more concerned about there being a 562 non chronometer movement in a constellation myself...

That is the warning that we are already looking at some mixing and matching has definitely happened. Did the description address this?

Edit, looking closer the T SWISS MADE T on the dial with the hands being the black paint inlay and no lume pips on the dial are another red flag...

I wonder how much money noobs would have saved over the years, had they done that?

This was the description, in answer to your question.. I didn’t think I was going to win this and posted just before the action finished

I dont know if you will be able to argue that it has been misrepresented as a constellation since it has the wrong movement in it when the description does clearly state its a 562.

Ive never had to argue on ebay that something is a fake before.

I hope you can get a refund on this one, otherwise if you havent paid you might just have to tank the bad feedback...

Well. It clearly states in the description and shows in the pictures it’s a cal 562, which means it’s not chronometer certified and doesn’t belong in this watch. This alone means the value is basically the sum of the parts. Return it if you can - and next time, even a quick google search will help. “Omega 14900” will show you a) pictures of watches without a date, as the ref doesn’t have one, and b) a link to the Omega archives which will state that a 14900 should come with a cal 551.
The movement doesn’t belong in any constellation.
The caseback doesn’t match the date complication.
Return it if you can.

You’re really going to be depending on the sellers kindness to get a return given the clear disclosure. That is quite a mix of bits though and I’d definitely try.

Nobody else concerned about the iffy medallion and the whole of the dial?
@Zaccardelli1994 -do you have better pics or a link to the auction?

Could it be the same counterfeit case and dial as these: https://omegaforums.net/threads/another-counterfeit-pie-pan.5892/

(Edit to go out on a limb and say I think it is, even though the lugs do seem a little sharper. Perhaps it's a newer version of the counterfeit case? The dial seems to have all the same red flags. I also don't think the bracelet is authentic, but pictures of the markings on the clasp would help make that more certain)

Get the money back and since you were clearly willing to lose it, give it to charity. I’m sure there are a few schools in Africa or people in the Ukraine who could use £1350 - that would be a much better use than to throw it out the window.

Yeah, the incorrect movement/caseback is just one of the doubts. We'd need much better pics though...

There's really no such thing as no returns on eBay. eBay almost always (never say never) sides with the buyer - sometimes unreasonably so - when there's a dispute. I would open a dispute and try to return the watch. If the seler is representing himself as a dealer of vintage watches, then he knows, or should know, that a caliber 562 shouldn't be in this watch. The fact that he mentioned that the watch has a 562 movement in the listing makes no difference so far as I'm concerned because what he DIDN'T do was mention that it doesn't belong in this watch. That's a material omission in my view.

Just label it as a complete fake. You get your money back and hopefully learn from that experience....

Yup, I won a g-shock I didn't realize was a fake until I got it back. The auction had a no return policy but a seller certainly doesn't want that negative feedback on a sale, so they took it back without a problem and never relisted it once I showed him why it was fake.

Hate to derail this thread, but a fake G-Shock?! Maybe I’m just naive about the G-Shock world but I never would have imagined that was a thing.

Even from the unclear case back photo I can see it is one of the known counterfeits. The entire watch excluding the incorrect movement is likely counterfeit. Can’t see it that well on my phone but I’ve encountered enough of these over the years to be pretty confident.

Yep, ga2100 the green casioak. I kinda didnt know much about fakes either and had no idea. I posted on a g-shock group and they knew right away. Once I knew the differences, it was dumb of me to fall for it. Much like the Omegas, it was the hands, the caseback, the strap mount, and the writing on the bezel as well as the shape .
