Help sourcing vintage Omegas

I had the good fortune to inherit a few watches from my uncles (a 1987 Rolex Datejust, a 1955 IWC, and a 1960s gold Omega Seamaster). I love the watches, and have become very interested in adding to my incipient collection. I’m especially taken by vintage Omega models from the 40s through 60s. I recently purchased a 1942 Omega RAF pilot’s watch on eBay from an English dealer for a few hundred dollars, but I’m not entirely comfortable purchasing vintage watches online, especially from sites like eBay - just too many opportunities to get burned, in my view (even though this one worked out OK). I’ve checked my area in upstate NY but none of the local dealers carry vintage models. I’m wondering about other ways to find good vintage watches, and would appreciate any guidance on this. If online is the only reliable way these days, then are there certain sites that are trustworthy?

Thanks in advance for any advice you may have!

This site has a well respected sales forun. You need to stick around and make 200 posts.

Of course we all here are looking for a good source of Vintage Omega watches. Some of us enjoy working on our own collections. Not that this really save any money as such projects often cost more than the watch is worth.

While online auctions are a bit of a last resort. Note that there are about 8 million watches for sale at any given instant. And that is just eBay. So there are a few opportunities there. A lot of it is not to be to impulsive. Do your homework and research, research research.

Then you too will find your way down the rabbit hole ...

You need 200 posts to post in the Sales forum, but not to buy. You can always send a direct message to the seller.

Take your time (get it) and start reading reference material and searching sold Ebay listings. This site is a wealth of info. While your doing your due diligence, build your war chest.
I made a lot of money flipping watches and the profits helped pay for the watches I really wanted. It is a huge commitment to do this and not make bad mistakes.
I think there are still opportunities for one who has the time to commit.
