Yes, and if it were not for the combined merchant navies of many countries ( UK, Canada, USA and many others), that crossed the Atlantic repeatedly, sometimes without proper Navy reinforcements, dodging the ferocious German U-boats, the UK would have been starved out of the war long before 1945 came around.

now they were unbelievably brave men - anyone fighting in the Battle of the Atlantic has my huge repect
