Congrats @Wanta68GT ! That's one bargain pickup, rarely seen these days!

Listen to @kov 's wise words of advise. He's spot on.
Three years ago I was in a similar situation as you are now.I bought my -69 SW for 1.500 €.
I was hesitant at first to get it serviced (500€) but after hanging around here a bit and begining to appreciate what a great deal I got on a very valuable watch I found my self having it serviced and tracking down the correct bracelet after just a couple of weeks and never looked back on the money invested.
It will serve you for many decades to come (if serviced) and give you a great deal of joy everytime you take a look at it.

Cheers,

Max

Thanks for the first-hand experience, Max. I’ll take your suggestion to heart. Don’t want to devalue the deal I got on this one.

Interesting, this isn't my experience. I've often seen quite decent tritium hand sets for half that price. Maybe I should stock up.
Well apparently @kov has them all! haha... You may very well be right, but I've missed them. I hope you are right. Over the last day I have found myself in need of a running seconds hand and I'm hoping I don't have to buy an entire set to get it.

Hey Brother. As requested:

I love it when Christmas comes early! Congratulations on a super nice find! I’ve owned 50 Speedmasters in the last 10-15 years, but have not had a 220 bezel.

As you can tell, most members here that have been in this any time would have walked out of that pawn shop with watch in hand, especially at the price you negotiated! Glad you sought advice here and happy members were kind in their responses!

If mine, I would find set of hands and have installed during service. Installing/removing hands can inevitably cause paint/lume loss.

If it has not already been stated, DO NOT let Omega service watch! Where do you live! Members here will chime in on their preferenced places for service. The cost of service excluding parts can be from $200-1000+ USD, depending on who you choose. Fortunately you have so little in watch compared to its actual value you have plenty room for any repairs!

Please keep us posted.

Maybe I got lucky, but I got a really nice tritium set for $300 recently. Not the tear-drop sweep hand ... the later one.

Few and far between. I’ve passed on a couple others because of overall condition/price. But i’ve really only been hitting the brick & mortars in my area...(Naples, Fl)

Thanks for the comments, wwhntr! I’m in Naples (FL). I’ve taken it in to a couple of watch repair guys locally to take a quick look- i’m Not sure i’ve Found the right shop to service it when needed. Also just stopped in at the local Boutique- they were adamant about immediately sending it off to Omega for a service. I politely declined. 😉 So the next part of the journey is to track down a set of correct hands and have them ready when I decide to get it serviced. If anyone has suggestions for a great shop in S Florida I’m all ears.

You’ve been ´fakkin lucky’ indeed 👍

Clearly a low range outlier for the statistics 😉

Dude, your lower-left hands are running slow, a clear indication they need a service.
