So I've been having an itch for a new piece lately and after watching first man the other day I've decided it needs to be a speedmaster! I've narrowed it down to some dark sides, or sapphire moon watch. I went to the omega store to try all on now I need help on which one! Also interested in snoopy speedy, but at resell prices you could get a gold piece or daytona c. So what do you guys think? Also was thinking maybe I should wait for 50th apollo XI later this year....? Boutique said I would have to deposit 10k unseen.

Here are my choices:

I think first of all any "Side of the Moon" stuff is way overpriced at OB prices. So I would keep that in mind...

Second...why not vintage!!!

For me, it'd be the DSOTM, Pitch Black, or a vintage Speedy Pro. However, it is your taste and your watch. Not sure anyone here can tell you what you're going to like. Find the one that calls to you and where it like a champ! Good luck!

If it is your first, I would tend to lean to the classic. No.1 is bad ass. I just don't know how the black finish will hold up over the long haul.

You could ask.... What would Buzz do? although his tastes are getting a little flamboyant as of late.

Of those five, I'd go for #4. That looks like a plastic / hesalite crystal. Personally, I'd go for the sapphire sandwich for more durability. The plastic is the original and the classic, but I prefer the sapphire. (I have both types of crystals.)

Good luck with your purchase. Be sure to post photos of your new watch when you get it!

Buy a classic sapphire or hesalite, and if the itch isn't solved, buy something special later on.

We cannot tell you. If you have a choice of so many that suggests none of them spoke to you. Or that all did, in which case a more remunerative occupation is needed.

Vintage 1960's snap decision in a London coffee shop on the wrist at the mo', but I am not trying to push you the vintage way. Of course not.

Since you posted this on the modern board, let’s assume you’re not after vintage. Next, you say you want a new speedy, suggesting that it might not be your first. I have #1 (DSOTM) and I absolutely love it and can’t say enough positive things about it. So if it’s not your first speedy, I’d get that one out of all your pics. BUT, despite my love for the DSOTM, if it is your first speedy, get a steel one first.

But as we all say here over and over again, doesn’t matter what I think...

Agreed. I say get the classic moon watch first then get the other iterations of the Speedy as needed. But you just gotta do what you gotta do. You are the one who's gonna stare at your watch all day.

Classic speedy on bracelet...I think it's a requirement for continued membership at OF. 😀

+1. I’ve always thought no matter what you have in your collection , it boils down to what speedy pro(s) you have.

Of course you gotta do what you gotta do, but the Speedy Tuesday and the Speedy Tuesday II Ultraman watches are becoming more reasonable again and there are still some BNIB or near BNIB. Both of them are gorgeous in their own way, will hold their value and wear really well. Check out Vintage Speedmaster on the web!
