OOoh, that 710/711/712/715 movements are COOL (the 715 is a moonphase!), it ALSO showed me the Louis Brandt collection which includes a 716 perpetual calendar! Even the 717 is a dual time!

Omega was certantly inventive in the 1960 and 1970s.

The bidding really took off today. So there is interest in this.

Curiously I got a similar case what takes a 620 ladies movement. (that one needs crystal bezel dial and crown.)

The same seller had a sub seconds automatic dial and hands, which I underbid as I was wanting to save the pennies for this. Will be interesting to see what this is like when it arrives. Watching the tracking is much of the fun.

I think I have learned my lesson that just because the ref number starts with 13x or 16x does not mean it will fit a common gent's movement.

Oook I'll give you a little taste of my ebay poison:
Last week there was a wave of vintage Omega crown lots in Germany and Switzerland. Obviously I was not able to look the other way. Here only 2 examples of 5 auctions I won.. The collection is growing, but how satisfying to finally have the correct one sitting there when you need it.

I also got all excited about a lot of Cosmic 2000 service parts:

I love all of the Cosmic 2000 models and, unlike many others, always hat great fun working on the 1012-1022 movs. The split crown and hands were basically untouched. Hands actually look brand new after some touch with rodico and are not easy to get anymore (especially the seconds hand with 0.15mm hole). Gaskets also still in great shape. Wouldn't sell one without brand new gaskets, but for myself those gaskets will still do. Plus all those screws that, for whatever reason, Omega service had to exchange. All and all a great catch.
On a side note: The seller accidentally included several baby picture in his auction, probably fast fast ebay action on the phone.. I informed him put a white box over it for posting it here. He also wanted to ship in an envelope. I coudl pursuade him to take a package instead since it would probably destroy the watch hands.

Well I took a risk and bid on this 712 movement. Photos are terrible as they all show the plastic bag.

There was partial 712 movement missing a hairspring in Thailand with a make offer. I almost did then noticed they were closed for the Lunar New year. Just as well since this one showed up in the US.

Found at least one 712 part in my parts assortment.

I noticed another 167.021 case was also listed and sold recently. So there may be others looking for this elusive movement.

Still will need to locate dial hands and crown.

I also bid and won on another empty 166.041 case. This one in a much better condition.
The shipping on the 166.041 was fast. As usual no dial hands or crown.

It always seems strange when I do not have something in the shipping queue. Might have to actually sit down on the bench and work on a watch.

Edit: I just noticed, looking back through this thread, that the 712 case came from the same seller as the case I got a few weeks back. I now wonder if these were once from the same watch?

They here ... (cue spookey music.)

I did an impulse on the 56x winding bridge and rotor bridge which I test fit to the 552 plate I lasered. Interesting they both came together although were ordered day apart.

The 167.021/712 is going to be a fun project. Balance looks good. Movement parts are closer in size to a ladies movement. I test fit the rotor which seems to fit well. The gib was included. There is also a cap jewel that makes no sense since it is larger than the ones on the balance.
Balance vibrates when I use the blower, So there is a lot of promise here.

Downside is no dial or setworks/stem and crown. The set spring is missing so will have to locate one. There seem to be quite a few more gears on the setting and motion works than I am used to. Probably due to the integrated winding mechanism.

The movement came from the same seller as the case. No sign though of the dial. I looked at the sold listings. Of course they could have just got some DWM estate sale. Who knows how long these have been apart.

Case clamps and screws were included. Looks like dial is a standard 27.5 mm. I had one of the laser blanks which set nicely in the case. Might need a spacer ring though the clamps are long enough. There is a good 1.5 to 2mm space between the movement and the case.

The impulsed winding rotor and bridge looks to be complete sans gib. I probably have too many rotors as is. The ratchet thing along with the gib are usually what is missing on these. I really need to take some bench time and sort through the parts I have been breeding.

Last weeks binge arrived.

I have a weakness for these rare outliers

The 630 movement is a sweep seconds version of the ubiquitous 625. These are quite rare, I have a spare 535.015 (missing the strap retention ring.) So I nabbed this cosmic. Which comes with a case. Have a broken PZ5116 crystal from the dynamic I can see what it should look like. Seems to be wound tight. Balance does swing but no movement of the escape wheel.

The other item was yet another 1345 quartz movement. Missed out on the 1343. This one is missing the case back.

I have not been paying attention to my binges on these. Was surprised how many quartz movements I had that are 1342/1345. Been a while since I powered any.

I have two empty cases, but none of them are ever the same size, and the dials never fit either.

The ladies watches seem to have photo-bombed this group photo.
