Hello everyone. I want to buy this for 6.5k.
Is the price honest according to you?
I know the insert is bad and one pusher is incorrect.
Thanks!!!

Interesting example, a beautiful brown color (in the correct serial number batch) in a watch that is otherwise mediocre or worse. It really depends how much value you personally put on the dial.

Not 100% sure about the brown color ... 1st picture is in sunlight, in the others (artificial light probably) it looks grey and washed out.

Make sure it really looks like in the 1st pic and not like in the 2nd, at this price level.

Agree with two above. The brown can change depending on how it is held to the light, so it can be legit, but might impact how you like the watch.

As for price, it seems fair, retail, and not a deal.

The movement looks pretty dirty, a few slips of the screw driver show. It has several watchmaker marks inside the caseback so it was worn and serviced several times, which is a something I like seeing.

I think it would look better on a bracelet, personally.

The outer ring of the dial looks dirty and holds it back. It might clean up with a new crystal and service. It could be the reflection of the dial but I suspect it might be aged dirt.

This might be a bit of a niche watch, you either love brown or not. It is an attractive brown, as far as browns go and seems naturally aged, but there's something about it in the current condition that is neither stand out attractive nor clearly unattractive. It could be fun finding out how it'll clean up.

Thanks all. my idea is to bring it to better conditions, with a new insert.
I already have a 105.012 CB case and a straight writing, both with bracelet, thus I like this tropical with a strap…

We share a similar infection. 😁

Pictures later, if it makes it home to you, please.

You suspect it might have been melted in cooking? Or something else? The dirt and color matches the rest so it doesn't seem like it was retouched, at least imho.

The brown looks a bit uneven. I thought a cooked dial was supposed to have a more even color?

I was speaking to another collector recently around the premium for a ‘tropical’ dial on a Speedmaster.

My thoughts are it can range from a negative impact on value to up to 100% however this is very rare. Average would be 30% to maybe 50% premium. However, to really understand the impact they need to be seen in the flesh or at least with un-edited photos as the premium is entirely dependant on the attractiveness of the watch, and confirmation that it’s natural.

The lume isn’t the most attractive but I don’t think there’s anything suspicious about it.

It might just be the lousy pictures, but some of the lumeplots looks shiny, and there is some sort of binder outside the plots…

I ment the lumeplots, but you could ask the seller for more pictures?
Regarding the dial (possible brown) - you need much more pictures from different angles..
The watch has a "hefty" price, but everything could turn out well!

Just my personal opinion but it looks like the dial was cleaned of its tritium components and a previous owner had it relumed. Nice color to the dial and the other items you have to factor in if it is worth it to you. Have a nice day.
