Help before purchasing Seamaster Cal 601

Dear Omega fans,

I am considering a purchase of an Omega Seamaster 600, cal 601, 135.011. It should be from 1965.

I have been reading the forum and found some extremely useful help in previous threads that helped me a lot steering away from horribly refaced dials and /or obvious fake movements. I was so happy I could gain already a good amount of knowledge. However, I’d love to have your expert opinion on the originality of the dial and authenticity of the movement before potentially making an important purchase.

To me the dial looks original and clean, hands look potentially original too as no tritium in line with the rest of the dial and a style which to me blends perfectly with the rest of the dial. The case doesn’t look over polished, and the movement looks authentic. Do you agree with my non-expert assessment?

The seller on eBay mentions that the power reserve is around 47h and “it keeps the time well”. However, I assume it was last serviced a long time ago and to me this is the most negative part of the watch and scares me a little.

Any opinion will be highly appreciated! Thank you very much.

Perfectly nice looking watch but it seems pricey at £850, particularly since the photo of the movement suggests to me that the watch will need a service and possibly adjustment.

I’m also a little concerned that the seller describes the 601 movement as a ‘chronometer' when there is nothing on the movement or dial that supports that contention.

Looking at Ranfft, it’s the 602 manual movement that is a chronometer.

So, if it were me I’d pass. For that price I’d want an automatic and would expect to find a nice one.
