·Hey guys,
initially I was looking for a motorsport picture thread here, but looking for "speedmaster" and "racing" gives a lot of results, but not the ones I was looking for 😁
From time to time I am going through motorsport picture archives, looking for old pics with racers and their watches. Often you find drivers with Heuer or Enicar watches, but rarely seen with a Speedmaster (in my opinion!).
While browsing through the great archive of the Technical Museum in Vienna ( https://www.technischesmuseum.at/motorsport-in-oesterreich) I found some nice pics I would like to share. Most of the pics show Gunter Philipp with his Speedmaster 2998-3. Philipp was a well known actor in the German speaking region in the 50s-70s and, which was new to me, a succesfull GT racer in Austria.
Here are the pics I found:
The following pic is probably the best, to identy the watch as 2998-3. You can see the lollipop second hand, and the bezel seems to be a Black Tachy 500, better known as the classical DON.
And the last pic showing him 1970 as moderator...still wearing his Speedy:
Cheers Nico
