Hello brain trust!

Hope everyone is healthy and safe.

Wondering if the back of this 1961 14k Seamaster looks good to other eyes? Particularly the pinched logo, and then overall crispness/lack of polishing.

Thanks!

...Do you fear that the medallion has been faked or that the entire watch is wrong?

Why not show the watch?

This back doesn't look good to my eyes, because it doesn't look genuine to me.

For comparison here's one I used to have in 14kt, the Op's certainly looks very crude indeed....😒

Thanks for confirming my suspicions everyone. It’s a Ross case, which I’ve seen only few of, so it has me second guessing. But the fat, pinched logo just wasn’t sitting right with me. Now of course I see the other issues as well. Rest of the watch appears fine, and this case back was inscribed so maybe it was replaced when that happened... either way it’s a pass. Thanks for the help!

You actually have the answer to your own question, it's a Ross case. These US made cases differ in many details from their ROW counterparts.

Here is a very early KL6610 with a caliber 560.

That’s great info, thank you sir! I thought the Ross case might answer the discrepancies, but couldn’t find pics of an early enough example to verify. I guess not a pass after all...

See why only posting a photo of a single detail is pointless?

I posted the one case back photo I had, related to the case back question I had. But thank you for your contribution.

I just don't understand why you didn't state that the case wasn't a regular Swiss production case if you knew it at the time of posting?

I did my own research, as I always do before coming to the group for help. I didn’t see any differences between case backs on Swiss production vs. Ross. Apparently I wasn’t finding early enough examples. Hadn’t encountered Ross, didn’t know there was a difference which is why I didn’t mention it and included the photo I had. Now I see there is a difference and thanks to @X350 XJR I not only got my answer, but I learned something new. Which is why I come to this trusted group, for knowledge. Just like I’ve weighed in with my own knowledge over the years, to be helpful when I can.

Are you interested in helping and contributing or simply pointing out what you feel are flaws in the way a fellow member presents a genuine request for help?

You're right - not overly constructive, was I? Sorry.
