I was there for the super bowl weekend and it actually snowed !!Is it always gloomy in Seattle winter? Is know the 3 months of Seattle summer is beautiful but my gf had a job offer there for a new xcellent opportunity but convinced her to stay here in Miami with the beautiful weather...Miami vs Seattle ?

It's not always gloomy in the winter, but sunny days are few and far between. Cloudy with occassional showers or drizzle is the general rule from October to mid-July. Combined with the high latitude's short days and low sun in winter and, yes, you are looking at some serious gloom. Most people moving to Seattle suffer from seasonal depression at least for the first couple of years and a noticeable percentage decide to leave again. Take your vitamin D pills and, if you can, arrange for a trip to Hawaii, San Diego, or Miami sometime around December to February.

So 10 months a year it's gloomy...that does sound depressing...being in Miami it's beautiful from September to early May...Kinda like the anti Seattle

I have no idea about watch places, but if you are in the mood for some excellente pizza, check out Serious Pie!

That looks amazing. I'm going to try to hit that up for lunch tomorrow. Thank you for the suggestion!

Yeah but the mountains are beautiful, the skiing is pretty good in the winter and my house does not have air conditioning. It's really hard to beat a sunny spring day in Seattle or a summer day on Mt. Rainier. And the lack of bugs in the summer is another huge plus. Most winters you can be pretty active, even go hiking - the drizzle is pretty light. But this winter was just the pits - guess that is why the drought is ending in California.

Well I can't argue with seattle summers which is 3 months of great weather...beautiful mountains and whale watching ...But from November to April Miami has beaches and the people watching 😀...Talk about watches and fashion 😀...Humidity and heat make summers suffer able here but that is 3 months a year...Time to fly 4 vacation in the north to come back.

People are much more laid back and nicer in seattle as well I have noticed that down in Miami...Would you call standard of living prices the same ?Better food in seattle hands down but then again can't compare nightlife either to Miami

The vintage watch scene in Seattle is weak. But you will likely like to do some of the follow things if you have some time to kill.

Check out the Fremont Street market
Hit the Starbucks Roastery
Visit the Filson HQ store, they usually have some event or other on the weekends to check out
Walk around Pike Place Market
Take the underground tour
We have more microbrew pubs to check out than pints you could drink in a night and survive

All these are within a 5-10 mile radius, easy to uber it if you do not want to walk, hassle with parking and driving.

People are much more laid back and nicer pretty much everywhere outside of Miami.

Even New York City. Actually, especially New York City.

Yep maybe outside NY miami probably has the best watch market game in the country...Seattle is really tech savvy and young but watch market as a visitor little behind right ?

Or we could do an impromptu Seattle OMF gathering. Who is game?

We do seem to have more people that live in the sea/tac area than I previous thought. I'm possibly game for a get together tomorrow if we can get enough people.

@Atalien2005 What would you guys want to do? I've planned to spend the day with my family friend Frank, so his wants will be the final decision in the end. But, I can check with him.

Also, I went to Serious Pies yesterday and it was awesome. For lunch we tried out Blue Moon burgers. Today, I think we are going to hit up one of the first Starbucks, swing by to pick up my friend Frank, and possibly do the Mount Rainier drive. I received my fair share of watch-seeing yesterday checking out Fox's. I definitely want a Nomos now, those bastards. I also stumbled across a Tudor AD and tried on the Black Bay 36. Adding that to the to-own list as well. AND I went to a vintage guitar shop which had a bunch of 1960s Stratocasters.

I'm bankrupting my future savings account, guys.

There's a reason that grunge was invented in Seattle. I lived for 8 years in Manchester in the U.K... same weather - they invented post punk.

Well grunge is a person's taste preference 😀....I believe Cruise capital, beach parties and bikini wax are synonymous with Miami 😀

Overall it was an awesome trip. Lots of food and I definitely got my fix of watches and guitars. Here are a few photos I took, though none are great.

Anyway, to the Seattle OF guys, enjoy the sunny evening!

Perhaps a crazy idea and sorry for the thread Hijak, but how many of you Seattle guys would be up for a GTG north of the wall in a beautiful city called Vancouver? Your money is worth more here and we had sunshine this weekend.

Let me know if this could interest you.

I was just in Vancouver a couple of weekends ago and thoroughly enjoyed the city. Shame on me for waiting over 6 years of living in Seattle before heading up north. Also had I known we had a few OF members here in this area, I would have tried to plan a GTG previous to the past weekend. As this is my last week in Seattle before moving to Hungary, I probably will not make a GTG anytime soon.
