Just bought my 16710. I hope they go up in price.
I'm always looking at prices or possible trades!

I'm excited. Wear it for a few years then trade it or sell it for more then I paid.
If everyone here agrees they will go up in price (not go down) then we should be buying up the rest.

Unless you guys want to trade me a Sub C!

That was my grail watch for 30 years. Just got it beginning of this year. I'm hoping mine is in good enough shape to sell in 10 or 20 years when I'm done wearing it.

interestingly, there are people who bought a 5 digit gmt, and are trying to get ridiculous prices now

I've "downgraded" to a 16710 from a 1675 because its just a much more wearable watch - sapphire crystal, easier on the date change (which is important if you have any sort of rotation)

The funny thing is, the price of the 16710 I bought at the same price as I got the 1675 just a short time ago!

But I love the 16710, I have a 2nd one inbound

Congrats on finding a 16710, the jury is still out on the price appreciation curve for these as they are quite high right now. I know all Rolex sport watches are high, but this reference in particular is often priced higher than the 16750 WG gloss dial and it's almost always higher than the 16700. The wearability is often cited as the reason these are so high, as well as the last appearance of the Pepsi bezel in a SS watch. I'll be curious to see if Rolex decides to release a 116710 BLRO any time soon, and if they do what effect that may have on prices of the 16710.

If they have a silly stick dial the price rises by almost $5,000! Insanity.

i dont deny that. saw two of them today, one on the subway ride home and the other on a patients wrist. I thought he was wearing it like Marlon Brando's character in apocalypse now, but turns out he had lost the bezel 😲

Well you've brought up another reason often cited for the high price on the 16710, the ease and relative low cost of changing the bezel. If you can find all 3 bezel inserts and both the 78360 and 62510H bracelet, then you've got quite a lot of different looks with the same watch.

indeed, especially if you arent queasy about changing it yourself, but supposedly doing it too often will flatten the lock that retains the bezel. guess youll just have to buy all three! 😁

Guilty! But luckily with an aftermarket insert. Tomorrow I'm getting my OEM Coke insert replaced by an OEM Pepsi insert, then never touching it again!

I changed the bezel insert on my Pepsi and was surprised at how simple the process was. I also installed a new bezel spring to restore the clicking feature.

So I compared the 2 that I have - on the left is "swiss made" dial, on the right is "t < 25" dial.

The fonts are different? The "t<25" dial has a serif on the "oyster perpetual date" and "GMT Master II" text, the "swiss made" dial has no (or very minimal) serif on the text. Is this normal?

The 16710 Coke is on high demand. It will only go higher IMO. I am lucky to have one for my son's birth year and a year appropriate Black bezel and Pepsi Bezel. I switch between them. The Coke is the better all around. I have a Pepsi 1675 for my brothers birth year and of course that is the jewel of the crown but in terms of use the 16710 I wear confidently under any conditions. I have even dived with it 30/40m not deep.

The fact that the 16710 has the appeal of the classic, the Aluminum bezel and the slimmer shoulder case that still is different from the sub counterpart is what makes it a classic. The ceramic versions share the case with the sub and to me that is a mistake. The GMT is supposed to be a leaner Pilot tool watch. A little more grace...something to wear under a cuff.

Perfect watch.

Yes, the fonts on the GMT 16710 have slightly changed over the years, with the most well known examples of this being the "stick dial" and the "rectangular dial" versions of the II. You can also see the variations in the bezel inserts in your photo as the left one has very prominent serif and thicker numerals while the right has no serif and thin numerals. You've got two really great examples there, I'm guessing you'll be hanging on to these and not letting them go like your 1675. My 16750 says hi to your Pepsi cousins.

Well I guess the term rare is probably not totally correct, they were just made for a short time from around 1979-1984. Still a bunch of them around, but quite a lot of the original matte dials were replaced by the WG surround dials at the owners request or during service. I like the reference because it has a very similar look to the 1675, especially the Mk 5, while also having the higher beat movement and the quickset date feature.
