I don't care for it at all. While I appreciate the work and skills involved in complications very few of them appeal to me.

Alex, I love you, but are you suggesting that Rolex was not the first to produce a Day Date display wristwatch?
A young company, for sure, but you can't pretend that they didn't contribute to the world of horology... In fact Rolex is responsible for more than a few innovations... It wasn't always just about the marketing ..
All this fluted bezel, day date talk reminded me of a certain watch I own. Just been to dig it out and thought you might like to see it. It's a very smart and beautiful little watch!

all this talk of fluted bezels and day date functions reminded me of a watch I had stored away somewhere. Just been to find it to share with you all and it's a cracking little watch.

That coin edge bezel the Globemaster echoes is actually a design by Gerald Genta for the C-Case Constellation too, one of the most important watch designers of the 20th century and father of both the Royal Oak and Nautilus.

While I understand the history and certainly don't dispute it, I think the fact that so many people who are not die hard Omega fans think it looks like a DJ copy, that for the casual observer, that's what it is (even though it isn't).

I find it obnoxious how so many people think Rolex was the first at everything and accuse every other watch made of trying to copy Rolex. Someone went as far as saying the Seamaster 300 is trying to copy Rolex.

I agree in your face branding from a lot of them, I guess if you like something you should get it. Being a newbie here I am getting to know a lot. I only wish I joined the forum before getting a tag heuer carrera - money not well spent but learning.

I received an email from my local AD in Hamburg this week informing me that my favourite Globemaster was in stock...so of course I had to go and take a look. However, the watch that was in stock wasn't the prototype Model:130.23.39.21.03.001 (Steel, Sedna Gold, Leather) that Julian Lichtsteiner has been showing around Europe, but the real deal and to make matters worse it wasn't the only Globemaster, they also had Model: 130.33.39.21.03.001 (Steel, Tungsten Carbide, Leather).

Now I don't know what other people have seen so far (apart from maybe my photos and videos of Julian Lichtsteiner's prototype Steel/Gold version), but my impression of the proper Steel/Gold one was that it was even more impressive than the prototype...much, much more impressive. How to describe the difference? Well perhaps like comparing two diamonds with different cut, colour and clarity: The real Steel/Gold I just saw was like a brilliant diamond with excellent cut, grade D colour and internally flawless. the prototype by comparison would have rated good, K colour and VS1 clarity. So in other words the real Steel/Sedna Gold Globemaster is a watch that is going to attract attention.

So why should that be a problem? Well next to the Steel/Gold version was the Steel/Tungsten carbide version (both on the same croc strap by the way). By comparison this just looked sublime, cool, sophisticated, professional; a go anywhere, fits in everywhere, never out of place tool. So the problem was that I was torn between head (Tungsten Carbide) and heart (Steel/Gold). What to do? I needed a third decisive vote, namely instinct or gut feeling. This was the point that I left the AD and went for a really heavy German lunch to ensure the blood was in my guts and not elsewhere. I think my lunch had enough calories to feed Africa for a week.

Wanted to love the Globemaster, but in-hand it seemed a bit.. harsh. Like it didn't want to be on my wrist. Just a personal opinion.

@meganfox17 If you haven't seen the Steel Sedna Gold version live yet I recommend that you wait before making the final purchase. I think Model: 130.23.39.21.03.001 is like a high grade diamond - great for a woman, not so great on a man. Hence my choice for the 130.33.39.21.03.001 version.

I know what you mean. I tried the Steel/Gold vs the Steel TC (both on leather), vs the Steel TC on a steel bracelet.....with my eyes closed and the conclusion was that the steel TC "wanted" to be on my wrist, the others felt like they just didn't belong there.

If you only tried one so far, try a few. Somehow there is a difference.

I will have to wait until daylight to try to get some better shots, my smartphone doesn't like the dark so much.

Congratulations Longbow for pulling the trigger!!!!...or perhaps "releasing" your arrow would be more appropriate? Similar to you, the first version of the Globemaster I warmed to was the two tone / blue dial on strap...but I completely agree that the blue dial steel on SS or leather does indeed look extremely elegant and a perfectly balanced design. I have yet to see the white dial version with a grey strap, but I think that combo will also look very good.
