Full rose gold would be nice, but going down that route I'd be choosing the new Day\Date.

That's Rolex right?

I don't want to go off topic, but why would you choose the Rolex over the Omega?

Apologies if it sounds like I want to start an argument but it's just for my curiosity.

different watch, different style, different price
It’s all personal taste
I like the GM over the DJ and I have some Rolexes.
The DJ is just that bit more flashy with the flute type and polished centre link bracelet. The GM is more subtle at a distance but the USP is the dial, no doubt

Incorrect
Only one model in the range is on sale with two jewellers, and only one has a few display models in stock the other is out of stock

Incorrect, as of this morning there's a couple of models on sale in the UK at several high street outlets and in stock.

I have been into watches for over 40 years and collected for 20 years. My collection consisted originally of half modern omega and half modern rolex. Now i found i got rid of all my omega apart from the moonwatch and have kept my collection to rolex.
Although, I am thinking of getting a GM atm.

I am a big omega fan and have always found they marvel in technological movements and create great looking exciting watches. My reason for abandoning my omega watches is that they seem to get the most basic things wrong but get the hard stuff right. Examples are why do they struggle in extension adjustments in their watches. Firstly they look horrible with the metal strip coming out as extension, they end up weighing the (already heavy) watch further down as they are heavier than the original clasp. Why the lack of adjustment holes in clasp? why no screw down crown in a lot of their models. All my Rolex have easy link or glide lock + 3 extra hole adjustment on top. All my Rolex are water resistant with screw down crown. All are between 136 to 149g so perfect fit, adjustments and light on the wrist. These are fundamentally what matters for perfect comfort fit.

If omega offers all these in their models, I would gladly go back to them!!

Trying my GM with RIOS 1931 Orlando strap

Personally I prefer the metal strap but it’s nice to play around 😀

That's looks great. What is the buckle width, it would be great to get an Omega buckle with that! Or is it a deployment strap?

@Stufflers Mom, @colonel
In the interests of clarity and avoiding several more pages of IS/ISN’T posts here is some actual evidence. I suspect I could have found more if I had persisted longer.

Looks like a good time to buy a blue dial Globemaster.

I've noticed all these discounts, is Omega trying to shift unsold stock or are Goldsmiths just looking for quick sales?

I think the buckle width is 18mm but don't know. I didn't find out as it doesn't need a deployment strap

every so often goldsmiths sell a portion of unsold in store stock
I actually find them one of the best sales in the UK. Although Ernest Jones, Fraserhart and Beaverbrooks are also good to look at
I believe only Goldsmiths and Ernestjones have GMs on the sale

Another one with the Rios

Very nice strap, I think it looks better with it, but I'm partial towards leather over bracelets anyway.

Ernest Jones sell Omega?
The store over here where I live only sell fashion watches..

It's a shame that the Globemaster isn't selling well enough at its normal price. I wonder how the full gold version is selling?

Certain Ernest jones are Omega dealers
All watches are discounted from time to time. Its possible that Goldsmiths and Ernest Jones bought too much stock of a £5100 three hander in the wrong locations. e.g. Ernest Jones in Canada Water only sells Tag Heuer now as it couldn't sell any other luxury brand in that location

OK, I genuinely didn’t know that.... I’ve been out of the country for a looooooong time.

WoS were independent when I got my first automatic from them circa 40 years ago.
and it’s still going strong.

That watch looks pristine, pretty well taken care of. I like the bracelet a lot.

If I had bought a GM at full price....especially if financing with balance still remaining and see this kind of AD discount stunt, I would be heartbroken. Omega needs to stop doing this kind of nonsense with over supplying of way too much variation of the same model. If they want to be taken seriously as a super brand they need to stop breaking the hearts of their fans.....dont get me wrong...now I have an opportunity to buy it at a discount from an authorised dealer.

Doesn't that apply to any watch ?
Breitlings, Tudors, etc. all makes I have seen on sales with Goldsmiths, Fraserhart, Ernest Jones and Beaverbrooks
Actually Omega is one of the least discounted watch brands in Uk retail

You know that you can get a 10-15% discount on any watch from using chrono24, watchmaster, iconicwatches, swisswatchesdirect or chronext right ?

So what are you suggesting, they pull a Rolex?

In all seriousness I understand what you're saying, but it isn't up to Omega to discount it, it was the AD's decision. They bought too many of these watches with high expectations, now they've reduced them by a couple of thousand to try and shift them.

It really isn't Omega's fault in this case.
