Lady thinks it's a beautiful watch, and associates this fact with the Rolex brand . ..
Bond needs to rectify this by making clear that Omega now also builds beautiful watches... I always felt O. paid for a R. ad... as it "cements" who is the gold standard for watches (at least from a Joe Doe perspective).
Great fries. .. are those McDonald's ?. .. No they are X. The relevant brand here is McDonald's and not X.
Although I normally would side with Megan (after all she does point a mean hand gun on her t-shirt馃榾)...I think you are spot on here @al128 When Cassino Royale was released in 2006 (ten years ago!) Omega were very much starting the process of repositioning brand awareness to the next level (above Tag, Breitling) and moving into Rolex territory. I think it would have been too big a reach in 2006 to put Omega above Rolex in a film brand positioning advert...it would have looked pretentious with risk of backfiring. At most they could aim for some degree of equivalence recognition.
Moving forward to 2016 I don麓t think Omega would ever do that comparison again...they have done sufficient technical hormework to be seen as equals to Rolex across many watch ranges and even superior in some aspects...they need to position themselves with confidence, ignoring trying to be "Rolex" and doing their own thing.
Personally I think they should aim to be a "cool" luxury brand, which is something they do manage to achieve to some degree with the Speedmaster Professional range but struggle a bit across the other product ranges. I do think (right now) that the Globemaster is indeed "cooler" than a DJ in terms of design and technology.
For me the Omega brand should be about great watches with world class technology and cool, refined, understated luxury. Focusing on the male public: you wear Omega if you are a confident, self-aware man that loves mechanical watches and does not feel the NEED to show off status/wealth. One important aspect about being "cool" is not being desperate to please...Omega should show restraint and reduce the frequency of different watch designs / limited edition releases....this would increase their "cool" factor I believe.
I could be completely wrong in a comparison with women麓s bag fashion brands....@meganfox17 please correct me here if I am wrong, but perhaps Omega are more like Burberry and Rolex similar to Louis Vuitton? Confident, successful women use Burberry bags, because they don麓t NEED to demonstrate status/wealth associated with a Louis Vuitton bag. Many lower middle class women will aspire to own a Louis Vuitton bag, which once purchased (with financing, blood, sweat and tears) will be used as a statement to affirm that they are not lower middle class. I can麓t see the same profile of consumer aspiring to own a Burberry bag. So perhaps Burberry would be considered more "exclusive", only used by a higher socioeconomic status level of consumers?
