Future of the Seamaster 300 MC

Well I can't find it - obviously, searching for "Omega Seamaster 300 Baselworld" just turns up the 60th Anniversary piece. At any rate, I was wrong about the photo I commented on - that's the current Master Co-Axial and the white-looking lume was just a trick of the light.

I do know that Omega is planning on upgrading the 300MC to METAS spec soon though.

It is about time for a minor update anyways. My money it’s keeping the clear caseback. It might get a non white lollipop seconds hand.

Yeah, I think it was just the bright lighting and maybe my camera phone color "correcting".
I'm very interested to see what changes this supposed update will bring!

At a cocktail (plus Toys for Tots) event at my OB last night, I had another chance to handle the SM300MC, and I gotta say it's really starting to grow on me...
I don't know how you did it, but that first pic looks great... almost as if there were no faux patina and it had regular super luminova

Yeah, strange that it came out that way...possible because that SM300MC had just come out from a display case which I think had its own fluorescent light source....it could be that the apparent white color of the lume is actually a low-level fluorescent glow...?

With that said, I find the lume color more appealing in the 60LE...It's more opaque

I own the 300 MC. My only complaint was the polished center links on the bracelet, which I had brushed. It's a great modern watch, with enough vintage style mixed-in to be cool. Its wearable with a suite or jeans, and looks great with both. The bezel is killer, and it wears like a 40mm piece. I don't see it going away, as it caters to a broader audience than the 300 60LE.

I am a vintage collector, and absolutely love the 300 60LE, but at about double the price of the 300 MC, it's a tough pill to swallow. I may pick one up second hand some day, but buying new isn't an option. If I do, will I sell the 300 MC? I'm not sure, I'd have to have them both available for a bit to decide.

Both great pieces IMHO, and I don't think a Seamaster fan can go wrong with either one. Omega is one of the few brands who have gotten it right with their vintage inspired pieces!

Also looks great on a vintage style strap!

WOW! I know such things are entirely subjective, but on that vintage strap I find that to be gorgeous. Absolutely beautiful aesthetic to my eyes.

I'd love to see a YouTube side-by-side comparison of the SM300MC vs the SM300LE60...

I don’t have a video but I do have a few pics. Side by side there was no comparison with which one I liked better. I love black dialed watches and the 60th LE just is not black. No matter what light I had it in, it was grey. Indoor, outdoor, OB lighting, it didn’t matter. The non-tapered bracelet was weird, too. Figure in the large price difference and the inferior movement along with proportions that made it seem thicker than the 300MC, I had a clear winner. Not even close.

Ok, so here's my revised wish list so far for the SM300MC:
1) solid caseback with the Hippocamous and "High Pressure etc." script, reducing overall height by 1mm
2) clean up the dial script and add back "Seamaster 300" preferably on the bottom half, like the 60LE
On top half: OMEGA
MASTER CO-AXIAL
CHRONOMETER
on the bottom half: Seamaster 300

No more watches saying Master Coaxial. It would be CO-AXIAL, then MASTER CHRONOMETER

Have I mentioned how much I ♥️ these gripe session threads? I think the WIS community should band together and start their own watch company so it could be "done right".... except that everyone has their own silly opinion and will argue it more vehemently because they're a "part owner". Yeah, boy - the fur will really fly!

Omega is laughing all the way to the bank. Their internet monitors either laugh at these threads or roll their eyes. Or maybe both.

Thanks! It was tough deciding between the 60LE and the MC but I fell like I made the right choice for many reasons.

The execution of the trilogy SM300 was spot on, would like for them to use some details when they update the regular production version

It would be cool if Omega reissued this guy:
They kind've already did. The 2254 nicks load of DNA from that, just as the later Planet Ocean harked back to the original CK2913
