A couple of quick questions for you FOIS customizers, or anyone else who can answer: aside from the plethora of bracelet options available, how about dial swaps? Specifically, can any dial in a twisted lug Speedmaster case with a cal 881/1861 fit in a FOIS? thanks.

I did once swap the whole movement with a dial into my FOIS in order to see if i like it more with white hands. I did it as a whole since i didnt want to risk damageing original dial or hands.
In my case it was a 1863 movement with another movement ring, so i used a saphire caseback as well. All parts fited without problems.

You can use professional hands, dial, cristal, back, etc. Everything but the strap.

Looks great. Did you keep it that way, or switch back?

I switched back after a week or so, FOIS for me works best somehow the way it came. The only real problem for me was the uncomfortable original caseback though.

I'm pretty sure dial and hands for 321 and 861 (and likely 1861 but I'm less sure) would work.

Follow-up: Will a standard flat-link 1035/7912 and their respective correct end-links fit the FOIS case?

The Uncle Seiko 1035 fits the FOIS.
If the original one will fit or not you would have to try, i believe there were some variations. On the other hand a hollow endlink can be adjusted a little bit to fit the watch, maybe you could use the original bracelet using US endlinks.

@eugeneandresson was experimenting a lot with the bracelets, maybe he can give some input.

that was quite a thorough thread about bracelets. i just would like to echo that today i successfully installed ed white 321-b flat link bracelet on FOIS, with endlinks and spring bar from Forstner. The most difficult part was link removal screws from that bracelet some of which are too tight and some are easy. I also have Unkle Seiko which is not to my liking due to lighter weight.

Mine has a Broad Arrow re-issue 3594.50 dial and original vintage 1960s hands and pre-moon service caseback (145.0012) and hesilate crystal with tension ring.

"Again"? I made a thread back when I got it.
Oh yeah, that thread of July 4, 2019, I guess I forgot about it.

Nice mod, Adam Lewis does top work, I have a few of his project watches. Always tasteful.

this is how I got my FOIS. Tried to sell it on OF but no takers.

ended up restoring it to original configuration and selling the OEM FOIS

and putting the Mitsukoshi dial here.

Lol no problem. The thread got buried by a lot of non-franken watch threads. Not many of us around here with mods and that's why I ended up joining and keep coming back to find more threads like this new one (plus the forever wait Snoopy 3 thread...).
