Just arrived, excellent product. I like the very accurate length adjustment you can attain. Very appropriate period vibe on the 2998.5
i am a fan. Thanks for bringing it back. Looks great on my speedy. The lug protector is a little tricky. If the pins are tight, the protector tends to come off when you inserting the band.
Not that I have any skin in this game, but remember that the lug protectors were at our request and not part of the original design. If someone comes up with a better design- please share with the collective.
Received mine today after a few days in customs. GREAT JOB @Forstnerbands Slightly improved but otherwise incredibly faithful to the vintage one. You should be proud!
Thanks very much! It’s been a long road and we understood that expectations would be high, so this really means a lot!
55 years between these lightweight steel mesh bracelets... Love the Forstnerbands re-issue ! Well done Gourdin !!! .
I am totally loving seeing these on watches other the Speedmaster. As I mentioned in another thread- many companies have attempted at “vintage” style bracelets or straps but they get them totally wrong by putting a modern sensibility to an antiquated design (like a modern double clasp on a BOR or a 20/18 taper rather than a 20-16 taper). Nice to finally see one that is true to the esthetic of the time it is trying to emulate.
Exactly... with the vintage JB Champion I once had, it was this Speedmaster thing, worn on Speedies on special occasions because it was too expensive and hard to get. With the reissue, its more like just another 3rd party bracelet... which is what it was originally, after all. Just nobody took that many pics of Forstners on non-Speedies on regular people.
Lol!! Exactly! My cousin Bill had a ‘67 Mustang fastback- Steve McQueen wasn’t the only person who drove one...he just made it famous.
Mine arrived yesterday and I couldn't wait to put in on my FOIS. Noticed within a few minutes that the the band rubs against the case of my FOIS. Not hard but enough that there is resistance when the endlink turns. After just a few hours, this is what the end link looks like. That's quite a bit of scratching for a few hours wear. I was a little disappointed but I knew it was probably something I could fix. So after a couple of tries, I managed to sand and polish the endlink to make sure that there is some clearance to the case. and finally, here it is on my FOIS. Now with adequate clearance to prevent rubbing and scratching of the case.
Got mine on my #speedytuesday for Speedytuesday, and apart from the 'let me try and see how I should protect the lugs when my lug protectors or finished' botched tape lower left, which doesn't bother me on the wrist, absolutely love this combo...
My two arrived at Frankfurt Airport, Germany, on Dec. 3. Since then no further infos, unfortunately the usual practise for the customs procedure. I wonder whether I will receive it before Christmas.
Interesting. Wonder if an original would fit the same way...or, it's just the FOIS lug hole placement that would bring any JB closer to the case.
