Thanks for all the great advise and responses. I paid DD for the 20% deposit and got a receipt/invoice showing this and the balance due when I collect the watch. I asked if I could have watch number 1970 as that’s my DOB but apparently you can’t ask for a specific number and get what your given. I was quite excited when I was in there so my mind went blank and could not remember any questions to ask lol. Now I have a few questions I may ring him as he was sound as a pound.

Cheers all.
I was told by my OB that only those customers who have spent over $100K can request specific numbers. I'm not sure what the truth is, but that's what my local OB informed me of...

Is it me or is this thread is an not-so-disguised effort to make people believe there will be a shortage of watches so those who get them first as they placed a deposit can flip them in the best way (for them)?

Not just you - the hype around this watch seems like a semi-coordinated marketing effort on the part of some...

In the end, it's just a watch...

My OB will get one gold and two steel. They try to get more from the steel version but even they are the one and only official representative of Omega in the country most likely not gonna get more pieces.

On the flip side there also seems to be a semi-coordinated effort to drag this watch down. First, before it was even shown and then amping up after it wa released. Indeed it is just a watch, let's let it play out over the next six months, they'll be plenty of time to discuss them after people actually have them in their hands and on their wrists.

I've seen people express their opinions of this watch both ways. There's far more pumping it up than dragging it down...

Does it not make sense to you that more people would express their opinions on like/dislike when they actually have a photo of the watch to look at? If you want to call this "amping up" the negative that's your choice, but in fact you were the one telling everyone to reserve judgement until the watch was revealed, and now seem to be whining that people actually expressed their opinions when it was.

It's a commemorative watch, made by a company that was peripherally involved in a great event...to me it's on the level of a commemorative coin. Interesting and I'm happy they did it, but I won't rush out to buy one just because of the event it is associated with anymore than I would buy commemorative plates for a Royal wedding...lots of people do, but it's not for me.

That seems difficult for some here to accept.

I'm spending the day in Milan with the community today. We've had a presentation of the gold and the 50th. and the topic has been discussed at length with some very eminent collectors who are in the room today. We're talking eminent enough to order their favorite watch number directly when having their regular one-to-one with Mr Aeschlimann...The consensus seems to be that the rush is not as needed as this thread appears (to me... And possibly to @Archer too maybe... ) to somehow imply. Unless we get it grossly wrong, 7k pieces will probably bemore than enough to allow anyone who's got an interest in picking one up to actually get their hands on it.

Having said that, the pictures don't do this watch Justice and you have too have it in hand in real life to really "feel" it. It is quite stunning in the flesh...

Any more specifics to provide? How did the dial look like in different lighting conditions? Thanks for providing feedback!

I will not be able to describe it even a tenth as well as Michael's article on fratello watches... I think he got it is exactly right in his words, I could quote him but I'd rather refer you to his article directly 😀 but long story short I'm not sure I liked it when I saw the pictures, but I definitely like it when I have it in hand.

Come on Archer! You should! This one is already very much collectible! And it will fit nicely on one of these trunks they now use these days as packages for new watches!

I find that most watches I buy should be seen in person. I made a deposit a while ago, but will be checking it out before I make any decision. Same rule applied when I reserved for the ST2 and I still have that in the collection 😀

As long as it looks and fits at least as good or better than in the photo's, I'm ALL in. My guess is it will be even better in person.

S#!+ is getting real. Received an email from local OB that I am confirmed to get a 50th. Delivery estimated to be in July. I called to thank them and the store manager said they're now sold out. I don't know if that's true or exactly what that means but I think it means they've received deposits for all of the U.S. allocation?

The only number that will have any real significance will be number 1969.

But as we all know, the only person that will get that one is likely to be the commander and chief.

I just hung up with the assistant manager of my boutique and she also mentioned that the allocation for the USA was sold out.
