The allocation for the US probably sold out over the weekend. According to my OB, since corporate Omega is closed over the weekend, boutiques don't get updated information regarding available allocation, so it's very likely that the watches were simply sold over the weekend and didn't all magically disappear on Monday.

The only number that will have any real significance will be number 1969.

But as we all know, the only person that will get that one is likely to be the commander and chief.

My guy text me asking if I was after a specific number..I replied 1969 lol

I called every Omega boutique in London the day after the watch was announced and I got the feeling I was like the 100th person to do so. One basically said don’t bother there are so many people on it already including some from last year (!?). Anyway it looked cool and I think I’d like it but I’m not going to lose sleep over it. A couple said they expect to start getting them late July

I asked my AD if I could request a specific number. They emailed Omega corporate to check and were told that no, they will be sending out the pieces at random.

Lucky of the draw in the number allocation! Keeping everything crossed for a good outcome here.

Unless you are very well connected, like Clooney, an astronaut, or somebody high up the food chain I never thought there would be much opportunity for us poor collector schlubs to reserve any particular number. Some manufacturers (like AP) don't even number their LE's any more, they just say 'One of 6969' and let it go at that. Omega is still putting individual numbers on the watches.

1969, yes, but there are a few others I wouldn't mind having.

2019
50 (50th Anniversary)
11 (Apollo 11)
69 (shortened version of 1969)

And each owner would have specific numbers meaningful to him. Like birth year, birthday (mo, year OR mo, date), wedding, graduation or other significant date in their lives. Or specific numbers meaningful to them. Unfortunately almost all will get a random number that is meaningless to them.

I suspect reserved #s would add another year or two to their distro timeline. Instead of just throwing a dozen watches into the sack marked for an OB, they have to go through and sort to get the correct reference #s. If everyone had paid in advance 100% of the cost, and was not allowed to back out, reserving a number could work. But have 15% of the buyers flake out, and now you are tracking LE #s on the returns/ redistributions. Probably not worth Omega's time, and since the # adds zero value to the watch, why bother. Of course they could charge an extra couple hundred bucks for the right to reserve a number, and even decree some #s are a $1k+ premium (1969, 0001, etc.) and make it more worth their time.
