Hi Everyone....
Ok been reading the thread and a few thoughts came to mind....
To answer the OP question about buying redials... Frankly it depends on the watch in question and its a personal choice. Of course I would prefer an original dial , that should go without question. Most of the time looking back at my collection I have a few redials, and some that I am not sure if its a redial or not.
But the bigger question here what is disclosed about the watch before sale? If the seller does not disclose it and in the case of a DEALER who is held to a "higher standard " then a fellow collector , or newbee selling something etc... I would have a very big problem with that.
Now on to the next point.... if you found such a dealer and they are not properly disclosing info about a watch such as .... "incorrect parts", " redialed, repainted " , " this watch did not leave the factory this way ..."... a host of other fouls .... Also keep in mind no one is prefect and all knowing... so some latitude has to be allowed... How much well that is the trick.
Not to defend anyone...
The Seller / Dealer : its a free market so anyone can try to sell a watch and ask whatever price they see fit too. They want to present the watch "it in its best possible light... " ( that can mean alot of things.... by the way ) . Remember each seller/ dealer is only as good as his/her last watch sale. ( things are always changing...). we all have read stories of good and bads sellers/ dealers.
The Buyer : they have control as they will vote with their dollars, pounds, etc... Buyer has to do there own research etc.. I have read stories good and bad . For a buyer that does not have the insight and or knowledge he / she can possibly reduce risk by buying from a "good guy" seller... who has references etc....
What I find in bad form is the OP posting a watch asking a open ended question of the watch , the photo shows a price at SRP ( what I refer to as SUPER RETAIL PRICING! ). Members are questioning if the OP is the buyer or seller...
From what I have read the OP is a dealer., and as such needs to be held to a higher standard. I have not met or delt with Tony before this thread. With that said ,
@Fattony Tony please do not post watch questions here about items on your web site or items you have for sale.
@Fattony I think all the members here deserve an apology.
For all the esteemed members of the OF just leave this thread as is . There is no need to pile on anyone, and as a buyers just vote with your dollars , pounds, etc....
Good Hunting
