Your ex? Hmm.....

I wish my ex'es were that good looking 馃榿

No, it was Tom Dick's. I recognise it from one of his threads. Note - in no way do I think it's illegal or anything like that to make a profit on a watch, even one bought here. I just really liked that one 馃榾

If that's Tom's, that's a serious markup.

Oh this is a dealer?! I thought it was a poor noob trying to justify the ridiculous price he'd paid for a redial.

Oh dear.

Oh dear.

I naively thought the same thing. What a disgracefully misleading first post.

NOW WE HAVE ORIGINAL DON90 and DN90 PLEXIGLAS 馃う

From below link

One look at the perfect original dial, with full tritium markers ,correct original hands and 鈥榓s new 鈥榖ezel gives you an insight into how well this beautiful piece has been cared for. It even has the correct original DN90 unmarked Plexiglas with omega symbol to centre, a sure sign of a special collectors item.

Frankly one year into this vintage thing every redial discussion thread is a clinic to me. Very valuable. I don't like being played however. I guess it's a bit insulting that he thinks anyone on this forum would take the bait. Guess we did his pricing / market research for him.

I do not like redials, and that goes for overpriced redials aswell.

Wow

Jeepurs hasn't this one developed?

I saw my name attached so thought I would chip in.

It is not for me to comment on the OP as a collector or dealer, I have brought a couple of pieces from the OP (which I am very happy with and are very original) and have also sold him some pieces of mine (as indicated above) to fund my recent 30T2 18K RG.

Parting with my 30T2 was a tough call but the OP made me an offer I couldn't refuse when I met him to collect my watch and he saw me wearing it, his timing was perfect as it was at a time when I had less than 24 hours to secure my RG and was majorly short on the funds....... I don't regret it for a moment as the RG was one of my few remaining true grail watches

I've not got a personal problem in him making a profit out of the watches I've sold him and I knowingly let them go knowing he may not keep them for his own personal collection and he made no attempt to mask he was buying to wear but also stock his site.

He's a top bloke to deal with and he does have a real passion for the brand which came out when I met him in person to collect my watches and whiled away nearly two hours talking about Omegas (I am not affiliated to him in an way so can only speak from my own personal experience of our transactions both as a seller and a buyer)

My involvement in this thread is simply because I was mentioned but as I had been mentioned and I wanted to add some context in to the situation from my point of view.

Cheers Tom

Here is why redial could ruin the watch.
Just my 2 cents.

Hi Everyone....

Ok been reading the thread and a few thoughts came to mind....

To answer the OP question about buying redials... Frankly it depends on the watch in question and its a personal choice. Of course I would prefer an original dial , that should go without question. Most of the time looking back at my collection I have a few redials, and some that I am not sure if its a redial or not.

But the bigger question here what is disclosed about the watch before sale? If the seller does not disclose it and in the case of a DEALER who is held to a "higher standard " then a fellow collector , or newbee selling something etc... I would have a very big problem with that.

Now on to the next point.... if you found such a dealer and they are not properly disclosing info about a watch such as .... "incorrect parts", " redialed, repainted " , " this watch did not leave the factory this way ..."... a host of other fouls .... Also keep in mind no one is prefect and all knowing... so some latitude has to be allowed... How much well that is the trick.

Not to defend anyone...

The Seller / Dealer : its a free market so anyone can try to sell a watch and ask whatever price they see fit too. They want to present the watch "it in its best possible light... " ( that can mean alot of things.... by the way ) . Remember each seller/ dealer is only as good as his/her last watch sale. ( things are always changing...). we all have read stories of good and bads sellers/ dealers.

The Buyer : they have control as they will vote with their dollars, pounds, etc... Buyer has to do there own research etc.. I have read stories good and bad . For a buyer that does not have the insight and or knowledge he / she can possibly reduce risk by buying from a "good guy" seller... who has references etc....

What I find in bad form is the OP posting a watch asking a open ended question of the watch , the photo shows a price at SRP ( what I refer to as SUPER RETAIL PRICING! ). Members are questioning if the OP is the buyer or seller...

From what I have read the OP is a dealer., and as such needs to be held to a higher standard. I have not met or delt with Tony before this thread. With that said ,@Fattony Tony please do not post watch questions here about items on your web site or items you have for sale. @Fattony I think all the members here deserve an apology.

For all the esteemed members of the OF just leave this thread as is . There is no need to pile on anyone, and as a buyers just vote with your dollars , pounds, etc....

Good Hunting

Hi Bill
Many thanks for your thoughts on the situation that I have inadvertently caused as with the previous post on this forum which was removed ,when I attempted to "go public" with my intentions regarding commercializing my hobby I have tried to be transparent in all my actions ,as I have repeatedly stated I value opinions of many members of this forum and have indeed made some great friends since joining.
If I have offended anyone then I do indeed apologize as that was not my intention
at this stage I feel it prudent not to say anymore and hope that this is an end to the subject.
regards Tony

The originality of the dial makes up 40%+ of the piece value. It'd be very hard for me to come to terms with the price and dial condition. Keep a sharp eye and let the community get your back my friend. No hard feelings.....everyone is attracted to different aspects of watch collecting, there is not "right" or "wrong" way to go about it, but you can "win" and "lose" financially when it comes to redials.

Happy Hunting!

Thomas
