I'm also a newbie here. From my name you can tell that I only have one watch, so, once it is sold next month, I am out of here. In the mean time, my experience here has been very pleasant. Everyone has been very courteous and helpful. I am pleased and surprised that there has been no smart a** comments or trolling on my post.

Thanks to all of you

Rich
Damn, I must have been dozing.

Another new guy here and my brief experience on the OF has been that "Please", "Thank You"........ and, generally speaking, being courteous seems to work really well. I have been almost exclusively a "taker" (apologies!) on this forum (besides the occasional picture and/or smartass quip) and have occasionally embarrassed myself with poorly thought out questions or comments, but due to the aforementioned manners.....you all have been extremely forgiving, generous and wonderful. And, I have the following watches (bought from or alerted to....by members of this forum) to show for it. Ahem, Thank You!

And to complete my short (so far) journey, the whole family......

Only the Rolex and the Breitling existed before you all stoked my fire. Did I say THANKS yet????

Omegaforums.net is the best online forum for vintage omegas in the internet. This has been achieved through the vision of Trev and Ash and the participation of many knowledgeable moderators and members who take time out of their busy lives to share what they know about the hobby. This knowledge took many years and thousands of hours of diligent and patient research - poring over internet listings, books, advertisements and closely examining and analyzing watch after watch, dial after dial, part after part. So for the new members - realize and respect this. Do not abuse the privilege of membership here - ask because you are curious and enjoy the fellowship and not because you want to make a quick buck. Do some of the research first. Post good photos. And once you learn something, give something back in return.
Very good ! I'm a new member and just learning this, and I know everyone will see my mistakes. Thanks for your post !

This forum is a great resource to be cherished and nurtured.
I came as a noob idiot (still an idiot) and was treated with kindness, respect and shown more insights and made privy to more knowledge than I could have accumulated in ten lifetimes of study.
The only dumb question is the one not asked.
The only mistake is the one not shared.
The only offense is not being honest.

Just to echo what's been said above. As a newbie on this forum, I've found everyone to be very helpful and friendly. I've also found it an invaluable resource when I started dipping my toes into the expensive and seemingly bottomless pit of vintage watch collecting.

Here's a few of mine. I'll try and lurk less and post more.

Thanks all 👍

I love this place, lot more friendlier and helpful to newcomers than other ones on the net. Everyone has been respectful and helped out with feedback. Been learning a ton! 👍

I concur with all of the above, but on flip side there are many sellers on sales corner who are dealers that never ever contribute to any of the threads. I know afredeo asked how this site supported itself, so maybe these professional sellers could put a small percentage of profit back into OF?
I realise George does post very useful info here, before I get shot down, but just warren b for example, in the watch sales, has as far as I know never posted at all? Apart from the large range of high end bling stuff I couldn't afford if I wanted too!
I would love to reply to lots of questions on numerous watches, but unfortunately I just don't have the knowledge.
Although I am a massive amount better informed now, and can see the wood for the trees.
it's certainly the best and friendliest forum that I have seen, long may it go on, and you have my thanks for that.
Regards,
Ian

I am a newbie.

Had no idea about the knowledge and experience you guys had until I posted questions regarding my Seamaster and Geneve.

There had been question marks around the geneve dial. All members rallied round and some went and sourced pictures off the net to get questions answered. You guys made all the difference.

Thank you so much.

As a relative newbie (in it for about 2 years), I too, appreciate the expertise, camaraderie and friendliness of this forum. Several of you have been very helpful in getting me started on my collection. I hope to have sufficient and accurate knowledge to meaningfully contribute some day. In the meantime, please bear with the occasional positive remarks, likes, and affirmations of some beautiful timepieces.

Thanks for this forum. I found it when I was looking to see what the status was of a Omega Seamaster 300 That I bought in either Japan or Hong Kong when I was a fresh Ensign in the US Navy on my first Westpac cruise in the early 60's. I wore the watch for several years than I forgot about it and thought I had lost it, but it showed up a couple of days ago in a box that I hadn't seen for several years. It looks to be in fairly good condition with wear. No watch band, but I know it had a stainless steel one originally. It doesn't run now, and I plan on taking it to a watch repair shop here in San Diego that appears to be very reputable for a check up and determine what theproblem is. I haven't had it opened and don't know how to do that. I don't recal that it has ever been serviced. Any suggestions?I th a ink it is probably a 165.024 but am not sure. And the strap was 1039. Is there a replacement ban that will fit?

Take a picture and start a thread and you will get a heap of advice and some recommendations of a good service place. Watch is worth a bit of money now

Haven't posted much but just wanted to add my thanks on this thread, as I rookie I don't have much to contribute but I've learned so much from browsing around the forums.

Just finally made my first Omega purchase from a fellow member and will share pics as soon as I get it.
